IS YOUR ROAD WORSE THAN THIS?

Hey folks, how are we doing? Just adjust you a little bit. We are just on our way over to Kingy's and we're just coming up to one of the bits where the new, part of the new works for the Black Cat and the Link Road for the A428 where they're dual in it so this is another one of the bits where the road crosses over. i just wanted to show you this this is one of the worst bits of road in the uk it doesn't look too bad for me and it doesn't seem too bad in the tractor because it's soaking it all up but just play for a minute i've got some squeaky brakes i'll just get out quickly and i'll show you nothing coming no so it doesn't look too bad i mean it does look bad actually but like when you're even in the truck like even when i'm in the disco or whatever you can only come through at about 30. Just because the road is atrocious. Puddles everywhere. They do come and slop a bit of tarmac in them, but it is horrendous. You can see, obviously, it wants relaying, but there's no point relaying it because that bit up there will be the new road when the road is done. What an awful bit of road. Unless you're in a fast track, then you can't feel it. But, yeah, don't you see look pretty? The box does look right on there, doesn't it, like? Yeah, so the new road just goes sort of straight up along there, over the flyover, and then straight back down. So this bit will get lifted up and... I don't know what else they'll do with it, like, they'll get lifted up and become part of a field again, or they'll probably just lay rough, I think. Here, look, here comes matey with his trailer. Yeah, you literally, you do have to sort of pick your way through a little bit. This poor little trailer. And it has been, it has been worse than that. Yeah, because it's constantly breaking up like, but they do come and just chuck some patches in there and again, but it is rough. Yeah, so apparently we've got another, what have we got? We've got another 18, well not 18 months, what about 14 months? No, 16 months. It's spring 27, it's supposedly road will be opening. So, it'll be north when it does, because hopefully that'll, you know, especially around the Black Cat, that'll get rid of all the congestion. Well, in theory, anyway, like, probably move it on to somewhere else. But, yeah, it should mean, like, you know, when you're heading north... It's not a 50-50 chance whether you're going to get caught in traffic or not, Mike. So, yeah, it'll be very welcome when it does come. Along with the railway and the railway station that we're going to get at Themptsford. And, what is it, 30,000 houses to fill in between Sandy and St Nierts. So it's going to be, well, it's going to be like a new Milton Keynes around that area. Loads and loads of houses. And I suppose with all them houses, we'll come extra vehicles and everything like that. So it'll still be just as congested as it was before, I should think. Quite squeaky brakes on this. Watch out, we're going to wake. Old uptake from the CVT, as with most CVT tractors, is instant and seamless. So like in a drag race with this and like mine. Or even me, mine compared to a conventional tractor with a CVT, I don't stand a chance. Because I've got, you know, changed gear on the 3000, whereas there's no gears, it's just constant acceleration. But this thing does rock on as well, like. I was trying to think. The one I had, the one I used to drive when I was at Henry's, which was a first generation 4220. I think they've only done 40, 40 tops, about that I think. This one tops out of 43, so it's actually quicker than mine. You know, if you rely on the speedos a lot, mine does 40 to 41. Of course I can quite easily get a bit more speed out of mine just by increasing the throttle stop, which is set quite conservative on mine. it's about 2200 revs well i could you know set that um so it's a lot um you know so it's like 23 2350 which obviously increases your top speed then like but um i mean mine gets along you know quite angrily like i don't i don't feel the need to go faster in it like but yeah this does just i was quite surprised when i first got going on it like 43 that is um fair cracking on Of course with a CVT you get fairly good engine and transmission braking as well. I'm not actually using the brake at the minute and that's going to come to a stop at the junction for me without needing the brakes. That's probably why the brakes are a bit squeaky because you quite often don't need them. He's pulled over, pulling over for me, backing in. He's backing in for me out of the way. That's our goose. squeaky brakes oh mate no more eyes love yeah so today is saturday the day before the tractor run so like i say we're over heading over to matt matt and basil's to pick up um oh mate keep coming that's it uh pick up the um the transport box that big chunky transport box we looked at it um in a video back in the summer time it was one of the shows we were at like And Basler took it and I think he brought it back on the 1455 and we had a bit of a look at it. It's a hell of a chunky transport box that you can use as a bucket. So yeah, we're going to go and pick that up so that Father Christmas has got somewhere to stand and indeed the snowman as well. So like last year we had the snowman in the front box. and Father Christmas in the knob box, because I still had the knob box back then. That just occurs to me now. I could have them both in the back, because I was going to take the lid off my box, empty little tools out there, take the lid off, so the snowman's got a bit more of an area to stand up in. With that transport box, there'll be enough room in the back, I see. I'll have to have a look anyway. Gauge of cruise control. Just keeps going. 41. 42, 43 at 1,930 RPM. So that's obviously the other benefit with the CVT. You can run at maximum speed with lower RPMs. So it might not be sat at 2,200 at the minute because obviously it's mechanical drive-like. Of course, this is the other thing about the 4,000. So comfy. So comfy. Self-leveling suspension all the way around, front and rear, which is something I gained with 3,000 lakhs because I've got self-leveling at the rear, which is the hydrogen automatic system off a Citroen car, basically, but it does work very well. Yeah, you've got the little spheres on mine. for the self levelling on the rear but of course on the front of the 3000 I just stand the coil spring so there's no self levelling at the front of course this is hydraulic all the way around and it does a very good job and because of that the fast track doesn't need cab suspension you've just got the suspension that good on the axles that you've just got that and the seat and it's lovely and comfy Sounds to me like them brakes want a bit of work, just getting the bed in a bit. Engage grooves. Obviously you see the last video where we put the compact box on the front in the folded up position. So it really does make it, watch out cock pheasant, it means it's not sticking out two miles. Yeah, it's a shame my tractor hasn't got that, hasn't got folding linkage on it. She's off now. Yeah, so we'll get to the, we'll get to the farm and we'll see if we can get Matt's thoughts on one of these, because he's never, I'm sure he's never driven one of these 4000s. Matt has obviously got the 3185. It'll be interesting to get his thoughts if we have time to have it. Maybe he can have a little drive of it, like, see what he thinks to it. How they've evolved from the, you know, his one, which is a 52 plate, I think. So, like, 23 years older than this one. Yeah, they've come a long way in that time, haven't they? Can angle it like, there you go, side pipe. He loves it. So, yeah, Darren's just turned out, as you can see. He's going to put his lights on his TW today. Then he'll drive it over tomorrow. Matt's not here at the minute, so we're not, he's not going to obviously be able to have a go in the fast track, bit of a shame, but not to worry. So a bit of an update on the FW. The other day, I was here cleaning all the hubs up, painting the hubs. So they look all nice now. Come around this side. So they're all tidied up very nicely. And DNS factors dropped the... Wheels and tyres off. Yesterday? A couple of days ago. A couple of days ago, I think. And look at that. Oh, yeah. Isn't that nice? So we've got them bad boys to go back on. Not today, like, but... Yeah, because obviously it's a bit of a job to get them, not like a car tyre, just to walk back on. Car wheel to just walk back on, even. And obviously... You've got to paint the others. What I've seen is a risk now. When we put the wheels on, we're going to scratch the hub. So we've got to be really quite careful how we do it. Yeah, it should make a big difference to the tractor when they get back on. She should look good. Oh, yeah, you're happy now. Happy? Well, so I'm just doing a few toiling up bits, especially before we put the new batteries in. i don't quite know why the where the battery box where the batteries live is like that but i'm just going to blow in a bit of blue um just tidy it up that's what i'm using that's what i used to do the hubs with and that's what darren's been using to do bits and bobs on the tw see like he's done the axles and that lot it's a lovely color match and i tell you what it's uh some bloody good paint Basically, even just like one coat is not enough, but is enough. One coat covers, if you know what I mean, which is, out of a can, out of a rattle can, is bloody good. Yeah, these are some really good, it's cramped paint, really good paint, lot. So let's get that bit blown in and see what it looks like. Just tidy all that bit up there, lot. Really, really good coverage. Bloody good stuff. Blown in really quite a lot. Like I say, the colour match on it. Yes, a bit dirty just sort of around there like, but that gives a polish up. That's just bloody good paint. Bloody good paint. I've got a few bits here that previous owner had just put a bit of blue on, but it's probably like hammerite blue, quite a dark blue. So I'll just... I took it back with the old grinder, with a brush on the grinder, and we'll just blow a bit of blue in, and that's just sort of disappearing. Beautiful. All right, so we've got the old transport box on the back. Yeah, it's a chunky, chunky bit of kit, if you remember from the video we done on it. Yeah, a lot of different uses on it. That all lifts up so it can sort of sit on top, and you can use it as a bucket. You see you've got the edge there. Checker plate floor. It's very heavy duty. You've got a little door there you can get in with. Yeah, it's a hell of a better kit. Hell of a better kit. And yeah, Father Christmas and possibly Snowman will fit in there. A treat. So, it looks good. Darren's getting there with all his lights. You're not going to be able to see for lights. It's just going to be a haze of lights. That's if there's any left on it when I get to yours. Yes, yes, yes. Possibly they'll all have blown off by then. The touching in is done. So that looks all tons better. Look at that. Much better than it did. Really quick drying as well, that paint, even when it's on a cold day like today. Ten minutes, touch dry. Good stuff, that is. Really good stuff. So, yeah, there's the hub we done the other day. There's a bit at the front we just blew in. So if that was cleaned up, it'd match in a lovely lot. Obviously it's a bit brighter because it's new paint, but yeah, that's matched in lovely. Yeah, I've done a bit of the top there and I realised that I thought that had smoothed that bit out, but I'm going to have to just have that off again. You can see the edge where that bit of paint still lives on that, but otherwise that would have been done as well. Blew that bit in there, lovely. And that bit in there as well, lovely. There we go. Anyway, we'll get headed back and feed the cows.

We take the JCB Fastrac 4220 Icon to Basil and Matt's to pick up there Watson transport box for Father Christmas. We do a bit more work on the Ford FW. The tyres are back from D&S Factors and look brilliant! Meanwhile Darren is busy fitting Christmas lights to the Ford TW.
