Pixelmator
High‑rung Giant (Genie)
- «Достаточно хорошо» (Good Enough).

All right. All right. Let's just make a few things going here. It's Pixelmator, huh? Fuck it. I'm so annoyed at Pixelmator. I'm already just on the edge of my skills here with this thing, and then I don't need these crashes. And the worst part is, if anyone knows how, I mean, the worst part for me is that... Sam Teller, is that the Sam Teller? All right, so the worst part is that if it just would keep the stream going, you know, I could just disappear. It would like show is like frozen for a second or like loading and then I could come back and it could restart, but it ends the stream, which is really bad because So then it fucks everything up. What's up, Sam? Sam, help me here. My asshole thing keeps crashing. Okay. So now we have to get everything back up here. Just take a second here. Oh, I have to go here. There we go. Okay, this has to go back in. I think it's Pixelmator because Pixelmator is the first thing to stop working. The music's still working, you know, and then everything else crashes too. I'm going to have to, this is going to be my swan song with Pixelmator. It's going to be the end for me. I had a good run. I have promoted it to a lot of people, which I feel bad about. Because it is, it doesn't matter how good a software is. If it does this, it is a failure. It is a failure of software. And it's like so many people, maybe it's only Macs, but so many people using Pixelmator are going to be using Macs. Like, come on. It just tells me, because this has been going on for years, it tells me that Pixelmator must not be very well supported anymore or something. Because it's just, come on. Yes, drawing is hard. Oh, it's great. It's great. Great. Help me. So. You are part of why I got the fancy-ass MacBook Pro, and it sounds great, right? Except my stream has crashed now four times in three days. And it doesn't keep the stream going. The stream ends, so I have to start a new stream when I come back on. I can't even just come rejoin that stream. And that makes me angry. Yes, it is hard squared. Get off the stream? What does that mean? How do I get off the stream? Stream is not helping me draw. That's not true. Gray, I want to show you some of the things we've done. We've done like 20 hard drawings in two and a half days. That's better than my normal rate. I'm having fun. You're trying to solve the wrong problem. You're wrong. Gray's wrong. It's fine. Everyone's entitled to be wrong. Oh, my audio is doubling. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm an old man about this. I will never... remember to fix the audio right away. I'll always have to turn the, that's when I put my iOS camera on this thing, I always forget to turn the audio off. I wish it would just save my settings, but it doesn't. Yeah. Okay. So let's, by the way, all the tech I have, people have been asking me, what's your computer? What's your monitor? It's all, it's all gray recommendations. So again, I do blame him for anything going wrong today. Even though I do suspect that it's not my hardware and it's Pixelmator. Because Pixelmator is just pretty crashy. I liked my other streak better. This is kind of... Or maybe the point is that it is the streak weakens, you know? This is a mess, though, this streak. I don't like what I've been doing here. Let's draw some new things here. Let's merge these. The smear travels through the line. Uh-huh. Yeah! Yeah, I know what you're saying about that. You know, I think I'll redraw the lines, because the lines were there, like, all curvy like this, because I was gonna have these arrows. But I'm now ditching the arrows, so I'm gonna redraw those lines. That's a good point. Okay. The D isn't legible, but that's okay, because I'm gonna have just shown it in the drawing right above, and I'm gonna have to be talking about... I'm gonna be talking about D. you know, opinion D in the text right around there. So that should be clear. Sometimes, you know, you take your best crack at what you think you're going to say in the text in that exact moment. I have something, but once you do the drawing, sometimes you want to say something different. And then you realize you need to change something about the drawings later. So you just take your best crack and then you read through it. You see if it seems clear. All right. So here we go. Okay. That's going to be good enough. This is the good enough button. Hitting the good enough button. Okay. Now let's, um, so she gets smeared. All right. Poor Angela. Um, um, Gray, I think, I think you should stay here and be moral and tech support all day, but I'll let you go. Um, it goes without saying anyone who doesn't watch Gray's channel, you're missing out and listen to his podcasts. He's, he's as, he's really a grumpy person. It's enjoyable to witness All right So I think this is I think this is item two is that So we go from here. Okay, so let's let's just redraw these lines once well Okay, so we're just gonna go bang bang Bang and then we are gonna go through here and that's gonna eventually be covered up and so is this All right Um, okay. So now I'm going to put these behind the smears and I'm going to copy these and we're going to replace them over here. Um, okay. All right. And now we're going to, wait a second. Is that right? No, it's more like this. Right. Uh, okay. And now I'm going to get rid of the curly cues. All right. Um, where are these? Oh, here. And then, right. So here's, Image 1. Bob gets smeared for having the wrong opinions. But, let me explain in the text, Bob also has opinion D. That's much more reasonable. Opinion D is something shared by Angela, who shares none of his ABC views. Angela believes DEF, but the common D view leaves her, the smear travels to D. And it infects... Maybe I'll put a little one of these. Oh, too many. Maybe I'll just go like this as well. Let's get one of these out of here. Just to be clear, I might like, I don't know, maybe this goes over here too. No, I'm not going to do that. Let's not confuse things. Okay. No, we haven't done Radio Garden yet. Here's where we are right now. We're only here. Because we spent a long time on Google Street View and then we had a crash. So, you know. Let's just see. Yeah. Okay. So now, let me explain. Oh, so it travels here and it travels here. But it doesn't just affect Angela, who now is getting kind of, you know, people are saying don't follow Angela, don't listen to her podcast and stuff because she's a bad person because she thinks D. And we all know D is bad because Bob says it, right? So now that's the second drawing. Now the third one, and I'm going to say that she holds the DEF, but the third one we're going to show it's going to be the next level, right? It's going to be that now actually it goes beyond just this. If it's in a really bad environment. So D is now radioactive, right? As we see. But now if it really goes, Angela's radioactive, which means EF and Jason are also... so here's where we're going to bring back those friends here um where are they no where are they um ef and jason um there so now i'm going to show how the smear actually can go so far as to infect all of these we're going to have to do some more smear lines so here's a chance here's a time when like you can i could make this very quick right and i could copy one of the smear lines and just double it up triple it up here but I think it's one of those, you have to decide, is it worth it, right? Sometimes you just copy it, right? But I think here it looks a little bit higher quality and more organic if it is just, you know, different. And it doesn't take that long. I can probably do this in a few minutes. So I'm going to actually just spend the time to kind of, you know, draw three more smear lines, even though it's not very fun and I don't really know how to do it. Okay, I'm going to try to get better at this skill, the smear line skill right now, though. Bye. I'm going to try to do this in one go, first of all. And I'm going to try to do this. Put some red throughout, you know, and some orange and some yellow. And then we're going to smear those around. We're going to see if this works. I don't know if it's actually been the right move. Oh, that's it. First of all, it's way too thick. Way too thick. Brush size. Okay, I think that kind of worked. A little yellow heavy there. Let me, uh, okay. And then this one. I feel like these are getting worse as they go, and yet it's okay. You know? Because the point will get across. Why is this one so thin and the other one was so thick? I don't really get it. Okay. Uh, there we go. So he's nice and smeared, and this is the problem. This all none of those deserve the smear except maybe Bob and and really no one deserves a smear This does look a bit odd I mean I do like my first one the best so I could just copy that and do them all but I think it's fine. No, let me move the this lines Something's a little but their first one came out well The other ones are not you know, they're like not blocking the lines as much and they should be consistent I don't know why that first one works so well. Let me just... There we go. Okay. That one's fine. And now let's just add a little more into this one. Okay. Okay. Sorry, I know this is not the most interesting we've done in a second with this. Okay. This is going to have to be good enough now. All right. Cool. So they're all smeared, right? All right, it's a mess. It's a mess, but it's supposed to be a mess. That's the point. A smear is a mess. Everyone's like, wow, that's really messy. And I'm like, yeah, that's the point. Okay. So that's it. And those are the three drawings we need. And then I'll figure out how to actually weave the text around this in order to make it one complete story so that people know what the hell's going on. And again, if it were the blog, I might have done this in five steps or six drawing steps, but here we're going to try to keep it to three. And I might even condense it to two once I see how it looks. Okay, moving on. let's do another drawing and then we will um procrastinate um okay no not the hypothesis um yeah joe rogan totally joe rogan is a classic example of a node that has been smeared mostly because of who he has in this show mostly so that comes to him and now someone who goes on joe rogan is like oh they went on joe rogan they're bad right um and it's that's the kind of thing that like you know mobs do it's not how normal societies are supposed to behave and it's not good for discourse and it's not good for truth and it's not good for any contingent of the country as far as I'm concerned I don't think it's good for anyone except for the you know small groups of kind of militant people who want to shut down speech okay all right all right well let's move on all right next is A shape called, oh, Gabriel's back. Gabriel, you have some cred. Let's try, let's see what a blivit, let's see what a blivit is. I'm down. By the way, at this point, I hope you know the drill. If we crash, when, when this crashes again, at this point, I'm just waiting for it. Hang for five minutes and then go back to, you don't have to worry about that. You can always just go to waitbutwhy, sorry, youtube.com slash waitbutwhy. I'm just going to write this once. Slash live. When. Okay. And then I'll be back. Because I'm going until at least 11 p.m. tonight. And Eastern time. And if it crashes 10 times, then it crashes 10 times. I'm not letting this ruin my productivity. Okay. Blivit. Is that a blivit? Okay, let's see. Oh, these guys. Ooh, yeah, you know, I like, these are like the Escher things, right? Or someone. It's the impossible shapes. Ooh, I like this cube. Ooh, I like this cube. Things, I don't want too many of these, because then it becomes like, I'm just doing like an Escher impossible shape type thing, or whoever does those things. But I think, I'm just gonna, here's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna copy this. We're not gonna do the hypothesis now, because I'll wait till I'm more tired, because it's just like a, oh, that did not. That did not do what I wanted it to do. Nope. Nope, not at all. I closed it, didn't I? Okay. All right. I'm going to take this. I'm going to copy the image, not the image link. And I'm going to go over here. And I'm just going to put this here for now. So I like this cube a whole lot. You know? To the point where I would consider spending the eight hours one day to just like draw 20 of these type of shapes. Not all like impossible shapes like this. Some are just normal cubes. But kind of more straight lines and more like intricate. And then combining those instead of getting rid of the rest of this. Or like making it much smaller. I don't know. This is good. You're giving me good ideas. It is Escher. Yeah, Escher's cool. Okay. So where are we going here? What's the next drawing? Okay, so we did our sphere web, good. That was another one that was kind of hanging over my head as like something icky because I was picturing having to draw like a radio hose, but I'm happy the way we did it. All right, next. Okay, I think we should take on something big here because I'm looking at things I can like do when I'm tired later tonight and I think that the hardest things left, I can see that there's three things that are hard left and they're kind of all related. Okay, so the first thing is, this is a big one here. So this guy, oh, no, get out of here. So this guy is the golem, okay? This is the, okay. So this is the low rung giant. So if you followed, you know, this was in the series. the concept that this is a human tribe but it's a low-rung tribe so the kind of sphere campaigns i'm talking about they're done by golems there's not bad people usually involved they get there's people they get wrapped up in something bad and and i've been wrapped up in something bad and so have you and we all have right i don't really think this is a story in general about bad people i think it's that there's bad tendencies our primitive minds like to band together into a kind of um a scary kind of group that is that is scary to if you're in the group it's scary because if you say something wrong you'll be kicked out of the group if you're out of the group it's scary because they will try to smear you and ruin your life right because they're people are in mean mode but it's actually that the primitive minds have banded together into uh what i think it was a low-rung tribe um And I have a depiction of it, which is this giant. It's not smart. It's specifically supposed to be dumb and powerful. It's big. It tramps through the society like Godzilla, right? Like King Kong, one of those. And it's stomping on things right now. It's invading institutions. It's invading government. And it's not just one of these. I think there's a few of them going on in the U.S. right now. Golems are on the rise. There's more golems than normal, and that's not good. There's also the high-rung giant. And this is what happens when higher minds kind of band together and create a group of people. It's not that they're nice. It's grown up. You don't identify with ideas. There's no sacred ideas in a high-rung giant. It's a group that looks for truth together. Or they're just hanging out. It's not that everyone's always looking for truth. It's not a scary place to be yourself. And a science academy should ideally be a high-rung giant because that's, high-rung giants are great at finding truth because everyone disagrees and the truth rises to the top, right? And they're much, and they're forgiven. You know, when a high-rung giant, and you're part of a high-rung giant, you do something bad, even if you do something really bad, you know, usually you're forgiven. You know, you can say, I fucked up and you're moved on. But a golem will try to, they will smear you and you are bad forever. They'll find something you tweeted 10 years ago. and say, boom, there's the smear. We found it. This person's ruined now. That's not how grown-ups behave. That's shitty. That is how mean mobs behave and mean people and children. And that's on the rise. There's a lot of grown-ups acting like mean children right now. And I think it's because this kind of thing has gone viral, columnist, probably through social media and other things. So what we need to do here is we need to... We need to draw a high-rung giant. Because I have a good low-rung giant. He's a big part of the book. But the high-rung giant, I don't have... I'll show you what I have currently. Where are we here? So I think it's came into... I think it's in Chapter 8. Let's just... Story of Us. Okay. So I think it's in Chapter 8. But let's see. Oh, there's Loaf. I went for something here. It was trying to really combine three concepts together, and I think it was just confusing for too many people, so I nixed it from the book. But a lot of this made the book. Okay, yeah, this is the high-rung giant. It's like little people, right? That's not what I wanted to do. It just looks like a stick figure, and I think we can do better, right? It's like this. These are both kind of high-rung giants, right? I just think... if we're gonna have such a non-human looking like weird character for the low-rung giant let's do a high-rung giant as well um okay where are we going here okay we're going back here so the high-rung giant i'm calling a genie all right um because i'm picturing it being like looking a little like a genie and you know uh And a genie is kind of ethereal and like it's magical, right? And a golem is like, if you look at it, here's what a golem is in literature. Golem. It's like a really big, dumb, yeah, see? It's like, this is a golem, right? And that's what I think a low-rung giant, we form a giant one of these really big, dumb, you know, scary dudes, right? And so that's depicted by me as... as this orange guy, right? And so that's what the low-rung giant is, right? It's not smart. It's not nice. It's not kind. It's not nuanced. It's not knowledgeable. It's just powerful and scary. It gets its power from fear. It makes people scared of it. And that's why mobs work out of fear. If people weren't scared of mobs, they wouldn't work. So the high-rung giant is... What do genies look like again? Let's see. um okay there's obviously aladdin but like i don't want it to actually look like an actual aladdin genie as much as this is when people are you know high rung they they're they're they have form a higher emergence creature which is you know super intelligent so i want to have like a big head maybe and uh but maybe like maybe it drifts up from a group that is in an idea lab maybe you know There's kind of this like strand that drifts up from it and forms this higher thing. But importantly also, on an even higher scale, when you have multiple golems, they fight. They fight. They hate each other. They become us versus them. But genies, you can continue to scale up and unite. So two different science academies, you know, they might come, you know, two different science labs might come to two different disagreements, right? They're two genies, right? But the genies don't. fight each other. They work together because they now disagree with each other, which helps each other find truth. So they form an even bigger genie. And this just keeps scaling up. You keep going up, up, up to bigger and bigger groups. And you just have bigger and bigger, you know, single genie. Versus golems, you just have this balkanized war of golems against each other. They don't meld together. So that's part of the idea. And so I need to draw this genie. And it's a pretty big part of the book. It's the only remaining, like, actual big character. left to be drawn so i want to do that now um yeah will smith um um okay so um let's see let's see all right so this guy we're going to put up here just for reference to remember the size and kind of the vibe because this is his counterpart there all right and this i'm just going to leave for reference for anyone who's watching um so that someone comes on they can know what i'm working on let's just this is none of this stuff is going to be in the actual drawing okay space this is really messy those are really thin arrows whatever all right now um yeah this is the hardest thing is designing new characters and it's like any part of drawing i hate it because i'm not good at it when i you know you know i first tried to draw the instant gratification monkey let me actually show you quickly because i'm sure some of you have either read the procrastination post or seen my ted talk and i'm going to show you how it started let's just pull this open for a second uh all right so we've got procrastination folder all right here it is drawings um did i where is this hmm where would i put this uh um let's see i want to show you this i want to show you how the monkey started the panic monster on the other hand that was the first draft that um i don't know where this is i had a uh oh you know what i might have um i might have posted it um okay i don't know but i can find something else let me look well here here i'm gonna open the original okay well um okay well this was a big bummer It's like I could look for it forever. I just don't remember where I put it. I had my sketches from the original Winston Gratification Monkey and they look ridiculous. And I think I tweeted it once, but I don't know where to find that. It's going to be way, way back. Anyway, point is that these things are not easy for me. And I start by doing lots of sketches and trying to get it right. So here, this one. even this one seems easy but it was it was not like it took me a while to get it how i wanted to look so let's go to um primitive mine plush really great idea i'm at your email about day three of the live stream typical didn't include a link yeah that is that is typical should i send one out now is it too much let's see what is alicia thing should i resend the email um We'll see what Alicia thinks about that. I don't want to bother people on email too much. I'm very lax with tweeting. I'll tweet about it whenever, as many times as I want. Email, I just know getting a lot of emails in your inbox sucks, so I try to be very sparse with the email. All right, so what could this possibly even begin to look like? I think the general idea would be Alicia says, nah. oh there she is yeah um i feel like at this point i've said that two days in a row anyone who really wants to see it right will probably like know how to get there or just like go on to the twitter and say i don't know i'm not too worried all right um so yeah i i was thinking that kind of like on um undefined boundaries maybe I don't want it to be creepy either, because this is supposed to be a good thing that we like. We want genies. I don't want people to be like, ugh, I don't want to make one of those, right? Like, maybe it's just like a big head, you know? I don't want it to look like an idiot. Like, it's all zen, you know? Okay. No. No, we're not going to do it like this. Let's see. All right, let's see. Is this really live? Uh, yeah, it's really live. Um, it's Wednesday, April 6th. How dare you? Um, okay. Uh, now what are we doing here? Should I try some different brushes here? Let's see. I don't know if I want to make it, because the problem is if you make it like weird lines, like weird edges, it actually becomes really hard to like work with. If I want to do like a profile of one, if I want to have one like merging, it's like, it's kind of a nightmare to keep doing, you know? So I want to be careful with, I don't want to... fuck myself later um i mean i could put some behind it like it has to be blue green um you know maybe that's like maybe it's something like that um maybe it's like just a circle like that um and maybe it's a circle with a face and then below it is some other coming down i don't think that same brush so what i should remember what brush i just used the stranded brush okay I guess I could try a few things if this is going to potentially be what I do here. Let's just see. Addition a few things here. Over. I think it shouldn't be so solid. And that looks too much like a paintbrush. Sponge brush. No. God. All right. Varnish. So far, the first guy is still the winner. Scattered. No. Nope. A spray is interesting, although it looks like a spray. I don't think we want a spray, right? Okay, so those are our brushes. Let's see what else they've got going on for me here. Markers. I can see a marker working. Old Jimbo, this one is called. This is a marker called Old Jimbo. No, no, no. Highlighter? You never know what these things look like big. Sometimes it just looks... Oh, God. Definitely not. It's kind of cool, though. That's weird. Okay. Okay, and inks. I don't think we're gonna want any ink. Although, you know, you never know. Sometimes, like, one of these things big actually looks kind of good, even though it's not meant for this purpose. 300. All right, so, no, God, no. All right. Pens, I have a doubt we're gonna have any kind of luck with pens, but let's just try, actually. That's a, oh, crayons. Crayons could be good. Here, let's just try a few of these. No, definitely not. Graphite. I want it to be, like, ethereal, you know? So, like, I don't think these are going to be two that actually look like crayons, and that's the problem. Oil pastel. All right. That's not awful. Oil pastel. But it's just not ethereal. You're not going to be able to see the edges. Pencils. Why would a pencil be good, right? Let's just see what a big pencil looks like. It's going to look bad. No, it looks bad. And then we're back to basic. Okay. Now, between these, I am feeling, I think, the watercolor. Because I think the other one is too... I don't know. It just looks a little, like, flimsy. It's not like as much... I don't know. It looks like an orb. I get it. But, like, let's just mess around with that one one more time. So that one, it was the... Where did I start here? That was the Stranded Brush. Right? Did I try the Filbert? Let's just try the Filbert quickly. It's not... No. All right, so let's go back to the stand, the stranded brush. All right. No, I'm leaning towards watercolor, but I want to give the stranded one more try here. Let's make it a little thicker. Well, because it does kind of, you know, you can picture it's like, it's kind of like it forms, like it's kind of like a swirling thing forms up from the people. So what if I, let's just see something now. What if I did? Never come back to our normal thing and I think it's you know, it's a way-but-why character, right? So it's still silly It's not doesn't have to be like actually that serious which means I can still have a silly face. I think Let's see so Has to be very neutral. No smiling at all. Just like the golem Really that really kills its gravitas that face doesn't it? Maybe we can do better. Maybe we can do better than that face Let's see. Maybe the face is in a similar color. Maybe. Maybe the face is in this color. Darker. And maybe it's faded. But he just kind of looks like Oscar the Grouch. Not really what I was going for. Is there a chance he doesn't need a face? Or maybe he just has eyes. It's the mouth that's so undignified. Let's try using a brush. Let's try using the same watercolors. Let's just save this as a favorite. So, maybe we try combining. We use the other one, the stranded. Let's save this as a favorite as well. Okay, stranded 80. So, I mean, I don't want it to be a ghost. The mouth is not, now it's a ghost. Maybe it's just, maybe it doesn't need eyes. But it's a character. So it's just going to come down from a group of people down here. And this thing is going to emerge up from them, right? I think it needs to have a face. Maybe it doesn't need to be so serious. Maybe it's just a silly way, but why face? Because, like, it's still a product of people, right? It's not like... I do like the watercolor head. I think it works well. Let's see. That. I think if we can do a face... Doing an ethereal, mystical face with the stupid just two eyes and a straight mouth doesn't really look good. I think if it's going to be a stupid face, it should just have a stupid basic brush. Maybe he's got a little smile, but it's not really supposed to be. It's just very, um, okay, what if, what if, now is it the cloud guy from Mario now? I don't want, I don't want that. Um, okay, let's just mess around with this a little bit. So let's get rid of this. let's get rid of this and these um okay so okay for reference let's actually bring him down now and make him more of his normal size right so we got this dude being big and dumb all right and now what we've got is we want to be about the same size right and so i like that the head's bigger because he's like dumb with his little head and it's like big right but then and then it's gonna be Now we need some other kind of, I think a different kind of brush. Let's try something. Okay, let's go back to this green. Okay, so what if we went like green? Yeah, let's just first put this button. So we go like, well, hold on a second, actually. So what if I went like, how does it emerge? How does a genie thing emerge? It comes like this, like that kind of, right? Curvy lines are hard. I don't think it should be small. Maybe it's much smaller. Okay, let's run with this for a second. Now, here's my idea. First of all, let's change this color. Okay, and now make another one, and then make a third one. Oh, shit. Five-minute warning for Wordle. Okay, we'll have to come back to this. I won't be able to finish it before Wordle, but... Okay, and now my idea was to... Wait, shit. Why is it not letting me do this? So now I would... I think this whole thing needs to be angled a little differently. And then it needs to all be... Why? Why would it do that? merge this just as an experiment. Why is it making that other thing? Okay. So I wanted to like, I'm going to fade it, but I don't know why I can just do this separately, I guess. Okay. So we can fix this a little bit, obviously. It has to be cleaned up, but I don't like those changes. All right, well, I'm going to make it, I want it to be much more faded. And maybe the whole thing is just too big. And maybe it curls down a couple more times. And maybe you have to just smudge this all a little bit. It's a little like, you know, maybe it's a little... So let's just duplicate and see what it would look like if I, you know, give it some of the warping, warp some of the colors together. So... You know. Well, we've done a thing. I don't know if it's a good thing. All right, it's time for Wordle. We'll come back. We'll come back. We're not done. But, you know, I'm feeling it. I like that it's not that serious. I like that he's kind of still silly, you know. It's accomplishing something. It needs some refining. And this is one I'll be more perfectionist about because it's an important, long, you know, character, recurring character. All right, Wordle time. I'm just going to quickly tweet out a little link for anyone who also wants to join. All right, let's do it. Okay, so we're going to go over here. I like mine better. You look stupid. All right, so Wordle. I don't want to see anything. Okay. So now I'm going to also enter it on my phone, or I'll do that. I don't want to forget to do that, but I'll do that later because my phone is currently... being used all right let's see I'm feeling sometimes I start with stand sometimes I start with chant sometimes I start with crate or slate I did slate yesterday let's see I'm feeling I'm feeling let's just do slate again I'm on a slate zone this week all right The stand and chant are good. You really get a bunch of consonants. Four consonants is nice, but you know, you don't get the E. And so the E at the end is just a nice thing to test, but four consonants is a really nice thing to test, too. So it's a trade-off. All right. Oh, God. Oh, geez. Okay. That sucked. So what do I want to do now? So just like, what are some things? It could be manic, right? It could be something A. and then you know blank a blank eye something that that's something it could be it can't it could it could be uh it could be like something um um it could be aught a-u-g-h no it couldn't be aught um but it could be like um you know mania manic for example so that the a could be second um i like to just panic right It could also just, it could be at the end. That happens sometimes. It could be fauna, right? It could be, yeah. And, no. Okay, it could be like something with a Y at the end is always tricky. You know, it could be fanny or taffy, right? Not taffy, but it could be like something with a Y at the end. I think the A second is the most likely spot. Could be, obviously, it could be first. And it could be last, right? It could be any place, but I'm going to guess the A is second. And so I want to try, the question is, I don't see, there aren't that many O, A, words with O and A that don't have the A third, right? Loathe, right? Like, I feel like if there's an O, it's likely to be like something O, A. It's not that likely to be like... So I'm going to say, I'm going to go ahead and not even try an O here. Because sometimes I want to try an O and an I. But I'm just going to try an I and bank on, let's just hope that it was just an A and an I. Or it could be two As again. Like yesterday. Alright, so, and since it's only one, usually I don't test the same letter again. But let's just try, I think Manic is good. It covers a lot. Now, what other letters am I missing? D and R. Y, D, R, Y I'd like to test too. But I'm just going to try Manic. I feel like that tests a few things that I want to test. I don't love testing the M here versus, like, the R and the D. I could do candy. Is candy better? I think I need to test it on I. But candy might be a better choice. Let's just go with it. Okay. Oh, sick, that M. Oh! Oh, I got lucky. Okay, I got lucky there because, I mean... Not that lucky, because obviously I thought there was a good reason, but there's the M and the C. Oh, I just crushed that. Oh, I'm so happy with that guess. Okay. Still no greens, but this is obviously hugely helpful. Right? What could this even be now? So, if the A is at the beginning, I don't think the A is at the beginning, right? So, sumac? Is that a thing? No, it's not sumac, thank God, because there's an S. Okay, let's just, everyone just calm down here. There's no I. Mocha. Nope, can't be mocha, the M's first. Okay. Oh, I was gonna, damn, I thought this was gonna be so easy now. Okay, just chill out here. I don't see the A being first, right? Like, what is that gonna be? Okay, so if the A is not first. Could be the C is a C is often a starting letter, right? So let's just just try this up C something Something I'm really upset. Okay, so what if it's CH CH Okay I'm gonna have to just guess something this is this blows This is one of the words right obviously you can think about it forever and get it But that's not the game you're supposed to just kind of move with it I'm gonna give myself another minute This is bullshit. That's all I'm saying. This is bullshit. Okay. So, I was so proud of myself so recently when I did this guess, and now I'm making an ass of myself because I can't even think of anything this could be. Is it something umak? Coma. Comcuma. Okay, I'm gonna you know again, we could do this forever and eventually I would like hit something right but I'm not gonna that's not fun for anyone and it's also kind of like it's kind of bullshit I do think with Wordle if you if you if you've gone a few minutes you just gotta you gotta bite the bullet you can't like You can brute force this right, but I'm not gonna do that, but I feel like an idiot I'm upset I'm trying to show off and this is not this is the opposite of showing off. I'm showing on Okay Uh, I guess I'm gonna have to just test some shit, which is not what I want to do. And FYI, like, um, just thinking about one more thing. I know I just said that, you know, but. All right. Fuck it. So here we're gonna just do some, we're gonna test some shit. This is, this is, this is, this is shameful. This is a shameful performance. Um, we're gonna, we're gonna test some shit shamefully. We're gonna test, um, whatever, what should we test here? Okay, I'm gonna test I want to I'd like to test it H I'd like to test an H for sure because of the C I'd like to test a D No, is there gonna be a D in this? I don't think so Right, I don't see a D in this somehow So I'm not gonna test a D I guess I should test an R, right? A D, an R, an O. Oh, I'll do, uh, fuck the U. If it's a U, I'll figure it out from this not being a thing. But let's just do this. Okay, so what is this? Is it, I already thought of mocha. That doesn't work. Oh, uh, huh. Hmm. Co, um, cofem. Um, okay, co. It's gotta be co, right? Comma. Motherfucking comma. That was hard. That was hard. That was hard. Comma was hard. At least, it's just hard because there's two M's, but I should have gotten it. Yeah. Oh, that was a really frustrating experience. That was a bullshit frustrating experience. Oh, just, you know, usually, look, comma's hard because there's anything with double letters is hard, right? And two M's is kind of random. But I'm pissed because the second guess was just, you know, you hit the jackpot with the second guess. But comma? Who thinks about commas? Comma. Okay, that was hard. At least it was hard. Let's see what... Yeah. I'm glad I didn't look at this. Everyone's spoiler. That was super fucking annoying. But okay. I feel okay about it. All right. Shall we continue? Or should we do a little bit more procrastination? Let's do a little bit more procrastination. No, we don't care about the genie right now. Let's do one more procrastination thing. Should we try GeoGuessr, whatever the fuck that is? Everyone's telling me to do GeoGuessr. Let me sign up for it over here first. GeoGuessr. Okay. Let's explore the world. Let's. Let's explore the world, GeoGuessr. Okay. Out of here. Okay. I'm just going to do one thing for a second here because... All right. Hold on, where are we? Okay. Everyone chill out for a second. Two-step verification is super annoying. Especially when your phone is in a clamp like this. All right. This got messed up now, didn't it? I have to just... There we go. All right. Okay, so GeoGuessr. We're going to try GeoGuessr. All right, here we are. Let's complete a quick tutorial on the basics of the game. Here. All right. So... the basics of the game go click on the map to place your guess i mean do i have to be exact i don't really know actually i kind of know where this is in paris right it's like oh oh they're just like click paris like an idiot okay well that was easy your guess was three miles okay well but well i could have done better than that they were pressuring you with their little cartoon finger next mission have a look around okay i'm digging this Oh. Oh, duh. Okay. So now I can do this pretty easily. Oh, okay. I'm already addicted. You know, you just know it. I just felt all the dopamine just rush in. Yeah, I'm fully addicted. 578 yards. Is that good? I don't know. Take a walk around. Okay, well, let's just look around. Well, I guess these are gimmies, right? So this is going to be easy when I walk forward here. Something obvious is going to be up there, probably. Oh, get out of here. I get the game. I get the game. Chill out. Uh-huh, yeah, Sydney, right. Okay, and the Sydney Opera House is somewhere. I think Sydney's like right there or something. Can I zoom in? Am I allowed to zoom in? Hold on. Oh, if I can zoom in. That wasn't a bad guess for Sydney, by the way, from far away, I would say. I'd like to re-guess here and say it's like, I don't know which side it's on. I'm gonna just put that one in. It's on one side of that bulge. Can't even see how I did a nine miles away. Okay. It wasn't so good. I was in the other side See I guess the wrong side of the thing. All right. I'm addicted. I'm hooked I don't really know what's going on exactly. There's three things they just showed me Okay, let's do it. What the fuck is this? What should I do? World will someone tell me what I should play. There's so many options here. I could just go to world Or I could go to landmarks Classic? Okay, yeah, classic is what I, oh yeah, there we go. Okay, let's do classic. But now what? World, right? World, okay, here we go. Get ready to explore the world. You're right to start your five free minutes of play. Oh, that's how they get you. That is super annoying. Well, okay, at least we can't procrastinate that long. Single player. All right, so what are we doing here? Right, place your pin on the map. Okay, this looks pretty westernized. I don't know what the hell this is. I don't really know what kind of architecture that is. Let's just see what's over this water. Can I see anything over the water? Okay, American flag. All right, well, that's obviously a huge hint. It does look quite American, the blue lines and stuff, right? I mean, the yellow street lines. Okay, well, I can look at street names, huh? 14th and Main. Well, that could be any small town. All right, so it's not. It's in the East Coast. It's in the East Coast. American flag. Florida? Dude, I have no idea. I mean, I could keep exploring, which I would like to do, but I have a five-minute timer. I'd like to do a few of these. What does this shit say? Wheaton. Wisconsin and 14th. Ascension. All Saints. Okay. Well, I don't want to spend forever on this. I'm starting to feel... Northeast. I'm starting to feel like it's Maine or something. I don't know why I think that instead of St. Luke's Hospital. All right, let's just take a wild guess here. I mean, Maine's a bad guess because if I'm wrong and it's in the South, I'm going to be farther away. So I could guess like North Carolina or something, but I don't know. I'm just going to do this. Let's see. It's probably wrong. Oh, that's bullshit. That's cheating. Okay. It wasn't looking at the ocean. It was looking east at Lake Michigan. Okay, that was pretty bad. I did pretty bad. How much time do I have left? I'm super stressed out right now about time. Should I just pay for this? Try Pro for free? Let's just fucking sign up for this, right? This is how they get you. This is how they get you. I'm going to pay month things, and when I get sick of it, I'm going to want to cancel. This is how they get you, you know? Because it's fun. But they also know that people get sick of this thing after a while. So they get your credit card and then you're sick of it and you forget that you put your card in. And what can you do? I mean, they deserve it because they created an addictive game. Sorry, now this is taking forever. I'm coming back because we're going to play just a few of these, okay? I'm not going to go forever because I have drawings to do, right? But a little bit never hurt anyone. All right. So we are paid up. We're back. All right, let's do some GeoGuessr. And maybe we can... We'll do it collaboratively. Okay, so I don't want to do this. I don't want to do any of these things. I want to go back to what I was doing. I want to go back to where I was. I like the way I had it. All right, world. Start game. Okay. All right, it's already Europe, right? That 153 is very European, I think, right? If the street signs could tell you if it's Europe, because if it's the thing on the wall, this is Europe. That thing on the wall, this is Europe. Okay, so now the question is, where in Europe? Okay. Is that Italian? Are we in Italy? Pretty Italian to me. I don't speak Italian, but... I don't know about quai. I don't know if that was an Italian word. The qu? I don't know about that, actually, but... Um... Uh, le chalande. That is not Italian. That is French. Okay. I don't know what... Do they have qu's in French? Um... Quai de volmi. Okay, um... Alright. Let's just take a look at a couple more things. Oh. Whoa. Fran. Fran Pritz. This is France, right? Louis Blanc. That sounds French as fuck. Uh-huh. These... Pharmacy. Pharmacy, right? Pharmacy. Okay. I'm gonna guess France. I don't know where in France. I mean, I'm gonna guess... I guess Paris, because it's the most likely place. But I have no idea if this is some random part of Paris or somewhere else. But let's guess Paris, because it's just most likely, even though it might not be. Okay. Okay, before I go, let's see if anyone else says anything. Yeah, Paris? Okay, I agree. So, I don't know where. I don't think it's right in the middle. But I'm just going to say this. Alright, hey! Three miles! That was pretty good. It could have been anywhere in the world. Three miles. Granted, it was Paris, but... Next round. Okay, yeah, I'm addicted. I'm badly addicted to this. Ooh, look at this delightful place. Wow, we're in, like, such a funny little happy land. Look at these people. Wait, I really want to live in this little funny house. All right. What are the street signs? Is that X45? It's seeming a little bit American, but I need to see a street sign here. Okay. The street signs are real, you know, it's kind of a cheat, but who's this dude? Let's see what he looks like. Okay. He's not a Chinese man. That's something. Okay, let's see. Oh, we have... I'll spare you the weird parts of my games playlist, which is what we're getting into now. Let me move to another part of this. Here we go. So, those... Oh, okay, look at these Spanish rubes, right? Is this kind of like, you know, Southwest America? Could it be... It's not Mexico, right? It looked... Could this be American Southwest? Because of these Spanish-esque roofs, right? I don't really know if those are Spanish roofs, but let's go somewhere else. It's a nice place. These are fancy houses. Okay, this is going to be helpful. Let's see what's over here. All right, all right. We have some kind of marina situation. American flag confirming that we're in America. This bro. This hold on to see more of the coast here. I wish I could go all the way over here, but this is feeling very California With the Spanish things and then the ocean question is where oh There's the Golden Gate Bridge Well, that is a dead giveaway. Okay. Well now I know where it is. All right It is it is so if the golden gate bridge is this now we are looking at it from over here right wait i need to make sure we're not on the which side of the bridge we're on i don't know sf well enough to know okay it's on our right so either we're here looking at it or we're in like marin county i wonder if we're actually in marin county because Um, it doesn't seem very like, this doesn't seem like San Francisco, right? Or does? I don't know. I don't know. I don't know if we're here or over here. Maybe we should explore just a little more quickly. I just want to see if we get like a, this is going to take me forever. I'm not going to like go all the way down to the, okay, there's a marina here. Is this helpful? There's big mountains on that side of it. Um, okay. You know, those mountains are looking kind of like Marin County-esque, unless it's this green area here. Those mountains could be this. I'm gonna go ahead and guess that we're in, like, Seacliff over here somewhere. Um, wait. Wait a second. Hold on, hold on, hold on. No, no, no, no. The bridge is going to the right. So I'm here, looking at the water's on the right, and then the bridge is up ahead of the right. Okay, I'm more over here. Fisherman's Wharf. This is feeling very Fisherman's Wharf-y to me. Um, I'm gonna say we're, like, in Fisherman's Wharf. I'm gonna put a thing here. Oh, I am, I am good. Can we all admit, can we all admit that that was good? I was one mile away. Fisherman's Wharf. I'm very, very pleased with my last two guesses. Okay. I'm very pleased. Next. Okay, we're only doing a couple more of these. We have to do our genie, don't forget. Oh, where are we? Tuk-tukes. Okay, this looks, this is tropical. Uh... We could be in the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic, or we could be in Southeast Asia or Indonesia. Let's see. Let's cheat with some street sign or something. This looks a lot like the Dominican Republic where I was recently. Let's see what this sign says. Wait a second. Ice block for sale. BD. We're in a store. Coca-Cola. Ice block for sale. Devak Beach Resort. Caution, slow down. A lot of English. Not seeing a lot of help with the language. What does this little thing say? Give me something. Give me some Spanish. I don't think there's this much English if this were like, you know, in Southeast Asia. Right? I mean, is there a... Why is there so much English? I wish these guys would take their helmet off and let me see what they look like. Okay, let's see what's going on up here and then I'll take a guess. This sign's got to be helpful. Something's got to be helpful over here. Wait, where did that green sign go? No, no, no, no. I need my green sign. Where the hell did that green sign go that was going to tell me so much? Sorry, I'm going back. I need to see this. Ah! De Los Reyes Beach Resort. Okay. This is in the Caribbean. I'm going to guess DR. I have no idea, but I'm going to guess DR. It could be lots of places. Lots and lots of places. But I'm just going to guess DR. And I'm going to guess it's in, like, some road in the middle of DR. We're just going to say this, see what happens. Wow. All right. That was an absolutely awful guess. I was almost as far away as I could have been. I mean... I thought about Southeast Asia, but there's just a lot of English. I just, I've never been in the Philippines. That's the problem. So I didn't know. If I'd been to Philippines, I probably would have said, oh, yeah. And there is a lot of Spanish in the Philippines. Damn. Okay, that was embarrassing. Next. Next. I'm addicted. Good job, everyone. Okay. This is looking... American. Perhaps. The yellow lines. I don't know what this X is. I don't remember if there's that X in the US. Let's see what the sign says. Ponte sobre o Rio das Velhas extensão. We are not in the US. That ao at the end is very Brazilian or Portuguese. That ao is very Brazilian or Portuguese. Okay, now let's take a look. How can we figure out if we're in Brazil or Portugal or if I'm being an ass and I'm neither and I have no idea. But let's find out. What does this say? Is that what I just looked at? That's what I just looked at. Well, I can't just like go down the highway, right? I can, I mean, we're not just going to like go with these cars wherever they're going forever. Let's see what this sign says. Inicio, additional 300 meters. This is not telling me anything. I can look at the vegetation. Brazil is huge. It has every kind of vegetation, right? Portugal, I just, I don't know. I don't know. I have no way to tell if I want to guess Brazil or Portugal. Let's see. One more sign here. No, this is not going to help me. I'm going to have to just take a guess. And there's a lot of... Brazil is a lot bigger. It's more likely to be Brazil than Portugal. Let me see if there's something on this truck. This is feeling like Brazil guessed me. Now, where in Brazil? Fuck all if I know. But I'll be happy if I get the... What does this dude look like? That's not going to be helpful. Okay, I'm going to go ahead and guess Brazil. And where in Brazil? It doesn't seem very populated, but, you know, it could be anywhere. I'm going to go ahead and just put a place in the middle of fucking Brazil somewhere and hope that's right. Hey, pretty good. Pretty good. I'll give myself some credit there. There was no way I was going to guess where. It seemed hot, but it's hotter up than the more, so I don't know. Okay. Okay. Pretty good. Pretty good. Next. Oh, wow. Okay. How's the music volume? Good for everyone? This is getting kind of dark. This is one of my favorite things, which is Owlboy, but that one's a little dark. All right. Okay. Terapi. And a very, very drunk-looking dragon. Wow. This is cool. Um... Uh... Zero. Okay. English is so annoying because it doesn't tell... If something's in English, it still might be in an English-speaking country, which doesn't... That makes it hard. Huh. Zero. Okay, so actually, when I went to five countries in 2014 for the Odd Places and... Odd Things in Odd Places series. Nigeria. I went to, uh, you know, Siberia. Part of Russia. Tokyo. Nigeria, Kurdish Iraq, and Greenland. And one of the things I noted was what are the things that all five countries have in common? And there was soccer, football was played everywhere. I saw that everywhere. And another one of the, oh, M&M. I heard M&M everywhere. This was back in 2014. And graffiti. Graffiti that looks like this is everywhere. So this doesn't tell me shit. Like literally graffiti is just everywhere. So let's go explore a little bit. These yellow, these white dotted lines are kind of un-American, so I think maybe we're not there. Who are these bros? Okay, white. A lot of tattoos. Let's see. What does this sign say? Oh, whoa. Oh, no. I thought that was like tie writing. Tema Holland. Okay. Halsinge. That's not very American. Oh, dot S-E. Dot SE. Is that Sweden? No, it's not. Dot SE. Shit, what is Dot SE? I think we're in Scandinavia. But why would it, is it Dot SE in Scandinavia? I think it is. Oh, it's going to be such a bummer if it's not. I'm going to guess Sweden so far is my best guess. Yeah, this is kind of, this looks pretty Nordic. This Norcom, their umlaut, right? I mean, I guess it could be a lot of things. in the Northwest Europe. But this is striking me as Northern Europe, Northwest Europe. This is kind of wintery vegetation, right? It's not tropical at all. I'm going to just go ahead and, because, you know, we'll move on here. Let's just see if there's any other hints in this little strip mall area. SE, dot SE, what else could that be? Okay, DHL. Whoa. No, no, no. I liked where I was before better. Whoa, whoa, I need to see this big sign. Okay. Okay, it's like Fjord, FJ, maybe the LJ is also, we're in Nordic land here, right? Yeah, this is, we're in Scandinavia, but I don't know where. So I'm gonna go ahead and guess Sweden. All right, so let's just put the Sweden, more people live in the south, right? So I'm just gonna go and... I mean, we're not in Stockholm, but like maybe we're somewhere around here. Just put this here. All right. All right. All right. 125 miles. Hey, I got a new badge. Hey, that was pretty good. Can we all also admit that that was pretty good? .se, I guess, is Sweden. I mean, that was a giveaway, so I shouldn't be too impressed with myself, but I'm satisfied. Okay, I want to do two more. Two more. Because I'm having the time of my life. What is this shit? Oh, this is what I did. well don't remind me of the philippines situation so i've gotten the country four out of five times wait five out of yeah four to five times yeah i'm happy with that okay what is this get out of here wow oh well so what are these these three people just getting it exactly on the the exact corner five times in a row and they took 18 seconds and i took 15 minutes i don't want to hear i don't want to see looking at global high scores just always makes you feel bad about yourself All right. Okay, if this is another game, we're gonna finish this game and then we're done. Then we're going immediately to... to our shit, okay? Because this is fun. I mean, I assume this is fun to... I would like to watch this as spectator support, because I don't want to bore you when I'm having fun. But I think I'd be having fun watching someone do this, because I could guess also and stuff. So I'm gonna... I'm gonna assume that people are enjoying themselves. Okay. This is looking... French? Whoa, whoa, whoa, didn't mean to do that. Shit. What? No, no. Wait, what? Are we just here? Okay, Pharmacy. This is France. Where, or it could be some other French-speaking country. This is a mess. Someone is a real dick. You gotta do a better job than this. Sorry, it's like you gotta go find somewhere else to put your shit if that's full. Alright. There's nice flowers. Gothic steeple. This is very French, but are we in France? Police municipal. Residence... What's this dude up to? Okay, white, that's helpful. We're not in an African, French-speaking country. I mean, we could be. Not likely. Oh, look at this fun thing. Someone had a nice time. Someone had a nice time one day. Okay, let's see what this nice man's up to. Oh, he's gone. Oh, look at this guy. Alright, we're in a little river. We're not in Paris, for sure. Uh, is this French Riviera-esque? Maybe? You know? Let's see. Are we, like, I don't really know what this river is. That doesn't help me. Some shitty river. Um, all right. Pontia. Municipal. Oh, I'll be grayed out the thing. Um, Marche. Okay, this is, we're just gonna guess. I'm gonna go for Southern France. I'm gonna go for Southern France. Let's see. And I have absolutely, is there a river somewhere here? There's obviously lots of rivers and that was a tiny river. So I'm going to just go wild guess here and just go boom. Okay. All right. All right. All right. It was Southern France. It's not really what I meant by Southern France, but you know, we were on the West Coast. Not bad. Okay. Yeah. France is like easy because it's like a giveaway if it's French pretty much. So, okay, let's go next. Ooh. All right. We're in the middle of nowhere. What is this? Mount Isa Airport. Welcome to Mount Isa Airport. Okay, that's very, very American, right? I guess it could be English, but... Camo Wheel, Mount Isa. Okay, I don't know where Mount Isa is, so this isn't helpful. Can I go down this little street? No, right? Okay. Well, let's do a little more. Grace of Hope. That's Christian. Looks very rural, but it's, you know... U.S. has a lot of that. I'm definitely going to think U.S. here. You know, like, this is somewhere like Dakota or something. By the way, bragging point, I've been to all 50 states. Lots of road trips. Over Lander's Way, follow A2. A2? Well, I guess that could just be like a local road. This has got to be American, right? I have absolutely no idea. This is not helpful. This is a Great Plains state. It could be Nebraska, although there's so many cornfields in Nebraska that I feel like you're almost likelier to see one than not. Kansas, it could be. I'm going to guess a Dakota. I'm going to guess South Dakota. Although South Dakota has so many wall signs. Maybe I'll guess North Dakota. Lake Mundara. Although South Dakota is a better guess because if it's one of the Great Plains, it could be Oklahoma, right? And if it's Oklahoma, then I'm closer with South Dakota. Let's look at one more sign here. Welcome to the birthplace of champions. All right. If you don't say so yourself, welcome to the ESA. I feel like there's more info on this sign, if I can see it. All right. All right. I'm just going to go for South Dakota. Put it right around here. All right. Oh, shit. Wow. That was embarrassing. Huh. You know, I just assume that in England or Australia, like, they just, the signs are a little different. You know, there's a spelling that's a little different or like the way they're talking is a little different, but that sounded really American. I mean, sorry, the Outback versus South Dakota. That's not that easy to tell, but maybe there was a sign that I didn't, yeah. Okay, that was bad. That was a bad job. Bad job. Okay, two bad jobs so far. Okay. now we're in south dakota i'm annoyed about that i thought i had it somewhat close turner's creek landing park sassafras norma those are not words i know all right oh bud light okay we are definitely in america now look at this that's american as it gets we're in america we're in another republican state a very very much very republican this is This is extremely Republican, all of this. So we are in, let's see. See, yeah, we are actually in South Dakota now. They're trolling me. Those silos are really Great Plains Farm. Okay, what is this? Oh, a phone number. Oh, 888. That's not helpful. Sassafras River. This would be really funny if they actually put me in South Dakota right after all that. All right. Chesapeake country. Well, that changes things. Could there be a second Chesapeake area? Because America's byways. Oh, Maryland. Oh, my God. Look at this right there. Wow. I'm glad I didn't get South Dakota. Holy shit. What a giveaway. Okay. Well, I was going to get that anyway, by the way, just from Chesapeake. It was obvious. Still Pond, Betterton, Galeno. Okay. I don't know where we are. And I'm not gonna like, I mean, I could go here and now I could like look for this, but that's cheating, right? Can I go and look for Still Pond here? Am I allowed to do that? We're in some rural ass area. You know what, it's funny because there's probably a bunch of Democrats living there. Although I don't know about that. I think that's where the Republicans in Maryland live. Well, it's not that fun for me to sit around and for you guys, for me to search for. Galena, Still Pond, and Betterton. But let's just take one more quick look here. See if we can kind of... Still Pond Galena. Okay. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know, but we are not near... We are not in Baltimore. We are... We are... But Chesapeake County, right? So here's the Chesapeake. Oh, Galena. Oh, Galena. Betterton. Oh, shit. Oh, okay. So wait, which direction are these? Galena's that way. Still pawned. Betterton's to the left and Galena's straight ahead. So, Betterton's to the left and Galena's straight ahead. So, oh, we're like at this junction right here. Maybe. Oh my god, this would be sick. Oh, that was really good. I mean, kind of, right? I saw Maryland and then I saw the town name and I found it. So, I don't really deserve credit for this. You know, like I'm more impressed with some of mine where I had to do something, but hey. Sometimes you get a lucky one. We're finishing this round of five. There's a bird there. Alright. Okay. Not getting much info here. That wheel. A lot of places have wheels. Okay. I feel like this is not the vibe, even though I do love this song. I think we're going to check out some more Jakabi here. We listened to Chiltendo 2. We're going to go to Chiltendo 1 now, his first one. Okay, so we are in the middle of nowhere with no information. Okay, wait, what are these? I don't know. I don't know anything about what vegetation is where anyway, so I don't know why I'm looking. This is by far the hardest one yet, right? It's not even letting me... Wow, it's only letting me go this way. Is there something down there? Do they just do this randomly, or do they do one where it's kind of gettable? What, so I can't... I literally have no idea. This could be absolutely anywhere. There's white lines in the road. There's nowhere. I'm going to take a wild guess. I'm going to guess this is in the middle of Germany, in the middle of somewhere, okay? We're just going to guess Germany because it looks a little bit German-field-ish to me. That is, it could be literally any country. Here, done. I'm just going to go. Yeah, no, right, okay, there you go. There you go, New Zealand. How was I supposed to know that was in New Zealand? Did my semester abroad in New Zealand. I should have known that. But I shouldn't have because there were no sheep. Sheep would have been the giveaway to New Zealand. All right, this is a much easier one. Where are we here? I think this is our last one. The Daily News. Well, that's not the New York Daily News. That could be a lot of daily newses. What is going on here? I can almost see an area code. 860 something 60. 360. No idea where 360 is. Never dialed a 360 number in my life. Long view. It's definitely we're in America again. They're doing a little too much U.S. For my liking. Speed limit 25 is deeply American. Some people doing some shit. Because I mean, yeah, I could see if I were like in a patient zone, I could just like study this for like going around. But then like if you're just looking for like a giveaway, you're looking for something that says the state, that's not that fun, right? It's better to like... You're trying to get like a feel for it and use clues that aren't giveaways. Youth and Family Link. Don't really get what that is. It's a small town America. Kind of looks like small town America, right? Century Link. Although I've been so wrong about my small town America guesses. Douglas Street, 8th Ave. Oh, Columbia. Oh, what's over there? Hyundai. Columbia Ford. Columbia, Columbia. Ooh, Columbia for it. Is that like the place? Are we in South Carolina? I'm gonna guess Columbia, South Carolina because it seems like a pretty good guess. All the mountains in Columbia, South Carolina? Maybe little hills. I have absolutely no idea. I'm just gonna guess Columbia, South Carolina. All right, let's go here. Columbia, let's just put it, and we're not in the middle of the city, right? So let's... Maybe we're like over here somewhere. Oh, shit. Well, what the fuck? Is this Columbia? So it was just called, they just named their thing Columbia and fucked me up. I mean, I wasn't going to have any good guesses anyway. Ooh, that was really far away though. I'm doing worse this round. That's shitty. I had beginner's luck. All right. I guess that's it, right? They're showing me how I did. I'm not going to play it again. That was, so that was bad. I did better the first time. Oh, Columbia River. Okay, well, I didn't know about the Columbia River. Oh, it couldn't have been Germany's little street view there. I didn't realize that. Actually, I did hear that recently, and I forgot. Yeah, I'm not experienced. I'm sure I'm missing all kinds of obvious clues. The thing is, I don't want to get better, though. I don't want to have, like, a formula where I'm like, you have to go up to the mailbox and see, you know? I want to, like... Like, my favorite one was, like, well, the Golden Gate Bridge is too much of a giveaway, but I like where I can... take like and try to get it right on the corner or where it's like it looks a lot like a certain place but i don't know yeah i guess it anyway i'm clearly going to do a lot more of this um all right on to the next i'm going to put up the curse cassatt poster again and run to the bathroom and be back in a second um where did i put that thing did i did i did i throw it away no why would i do that Well, what's something else? Let me see. History timeline. Oh, you know what I can show you? No, no, no. The histo map. Let's look at the histo map. Okay. We love a good histo map. No, where's the full histo map? Why are they making it? Okay, yeah. Okay, check out the histo map. I don't know. Yeah. So I'm going to show you. You can go to see. We'll look at it from 7... Look at the last... Here, check out the rise and fall of... Here. I think this is an interesting space here. So you can see the Assyrians fall off, right? The Assyrians go down the tubes to the Medes. And the Persians and Greeks explode, and then that's going to be leading up to... You know, we have 300 and all that. Persians ended. Okay, so I'm just going to leave this here. Check this out, and I'll be right back. the sound yes everything's good okay so here are uh my friends yes very friendly um so yeah these are oh these are two friends of mine they usually make an appearance once a day in the live stream so here's here's the big moment um this one is extra small to give some kisses he's very friendly um oh that's plenty gus Gus, I'm trying to present you to the crowd. He's a good boy. This is Gus. And this, much bigger girl, but still very small. This is Remy. They're very cozy feeling. They're just very warm and fuzzy. They're also very distracting, and I can't... Alright, so I hope the licking of the face is quite the thing. Okay, I'm going to... Okay, you know, you know what I'm gonna I'm gonna be back in another Hey, hey everyone three minutes. All right Now they're having dinner and they're not bothering me at the same time All right, we're still here. We are all right. We're getting back to some shit now So what do we think of this though? Isn't the histo map cool? It shows the relative influence of each thing throughout history. So you can kind of see visually the rise and fall of empires. Like, you know, I mean, going way back is really weird. It's like, what the hell is going on back here, you know? But, you know, Egypt had a long run, obviously. China, very consistent on the far right, you know, just like always kind of there, relevant. and it's probably it's most powerful right now actually worldwide than it's ever been but um so you see the assyrians really were the dominant force for us the babylonians and then the syrians kind of took over and then the persians kind of became the thing and then the greeks kind of became the thing the macedonians um and then boom romans wow you know they were just like okay everyone out of the way And then, yeah, the Mongols fucked with them. Attila, Mongols. Muhammad comes around. Has a big, they have a big run there. And the Byzantine Empire is the, you know, the Eastern Roman Empire, which lasted until 1453. I believe that's the year. Maybe it looks a little later. And, yeah. And then here's Genghis doing his thing. One dude, that's crazy though. You know, it just boggles my mind. One dude literally created this entire, this whole big, huge thing here is the product of one guy. And it's incredible. I mean, Roman Empire is the product of hundreds of people, right? You can't say that. I guess you could say Alexander the Great is also, I mean, but he, you know. So Alexander the Great up here. I mean, but like Greece was already a thing, right? And he just kind of made it bigger. But one dude did this. Oops. Shit. Wrong way. Yeah, one dude did this thing. Okay. And anyway, then here it gets much more even and much more. And this just ends in 1931. So they didn't know. The U.S. was about to blow up. And then... More recently, China was going to blow up. Look how little China was here. It was not a big player at all on the big stage in 1930. So anyway, I love this thing. You can just find it by Googling HistoMap. It never gets old. I've stared at it many times for just, you know, I always learn something new. All right. So we are now procrastinating. Chinggis. I don't like saying Chinggis, sorry. Yeah, you know, actually, I think someone started a Wapowide Discord. a couple days ago, I think Tamar, I think it's under one of the, I think it's under, a comment under one of the, when I'm saying, hey, I'm live streaming, the last few days I've been tweeting the live stream links, under one of those, Tamar, I think, is a reader who made a Discord, so I think that's a cool idea. Anyway, so yeah. You see, wait, RIP headphone users. Wait, what happened? Is the volume fucked up? Am I screaming in your ear? I don't know. Let me know if the volume's messed up somehow. All right. It's time. It's time to... Back to the genie. You see, I was doing an icky drawing, and that's why I'm trying not to go back to it, but I have to. It's time. All right. I did kind of like this. It's just, it's odd. It's odd. It's a cloud. It doesn't look like... It doesn't look like... Like, okay, just out of curiosity, what if... No, that's not good. That's not good at all. Like, just what if... We don't like that more, right? I think we like this a lot less. It kills the whole... Now it just looks like an idiot question mark guy. Okay, let's get rid of that. All right, I mean... it's capturing the general idea but oh it's a big decision is this our genie do we want a smaller head is that is this head too big like more of a wait let me just duplicate maybe it's longer curly cute thing and a smaller head obviously i clean that up but because the other thing is a pretty big head right that head's too big and it's just like a big head i kind of think you were onto something? That's what I just did there. Alright, so, it's a bit odd. It's a bit odd. Sure, you know, why not? Alright, 80% of the drawing this time, that's true. Alright, so, I don't, uh, I think it's too, whole thing is too, this whole thing. Alright, so maybe this is just the dude, um, and he's a bit odd, but that's okay. Why not? Why not have him be a bit odd? Smudge this a little, this clean line so much. Oh, that's why it wasn't working. Now, I could make... I could try merging these. Okay, just as an experiment, what if I did this cleaner versus this? Whoa. Versus that, it's a little messy. Maybe it's just better as a gradient, probably is, but for some reason it makes this look stupider. Oh, look how he would look in the blog. I mean, that's a little neon, but he could look so much cooler. It really bums me out. This is how he would look on the blog. He'd be some really bright source of, like, I'd make him less neon, but. he'd be a nice bright blue thing and here's in the book it's so sad so so sad i'm so much more inspired with the bright colored guy i'm like wow yeah that's light let's get some of that light into our lives and here i'm like i'll take it or leave at this stormy cloud of um all right now i feel like i should clean these edges up a little i think in the in the i like an ipad ebook it'll it can be nice and bright Um, we're also probably going to publish a version that's just online as well. That'll be like a fourth format. Still making decisions about that, but, um, smiling dopely like that. Cause it's, it's, it's a very neutral smile, you know, it's not like an actual smile. It's like a, it's like a content, like he's at peace with who he is smile. Um, where's Alicia? I need to know what Alicia thinks of this. A big decision like this always has to get run by Alicia. Yeah, I mean, his head could definitely be a lot, like, crisper. It doesn't have to be a cloud, but then it could look a little like a jellyfish then, maybe, is the problem. Like a tadpole. But, like, you know, his head could have crisper edges. But I think this is the point, is, like, this higher emergence intelligence forms, right? Maybe his head should be a little bit more transparent. What if? So here is more of like a head looking thing versus more of a cloud. And I would blend all that in. But does this look like a genie, kind of? Or does it look like a weird guppy? Looks a little more like a head. So just to compare, let's put these next to each other. Okay, so here. So see the different vibes here? I blend this dude in, obviously. blend here just to get a feel smudge so like not that but you know you have less of a beard but okay original seems to be more popular all right sorry guppy jellyfish guy you've been voted out um all right i'm feeling it you know look it's not perfect it's not like it's not one of the ones where i'm like yes i'm obsessed with it but i it's good enough and it's not in the book that much. It's not in the book as much as the orange guy. It's in the book maybe like eight times. Orange guy's in like probably 15 times. Um, uh, sentient sperm cell. Yeah, sure does. It sure does. But it also looks a little like a light bulb. I do like that concept. It's kind of like a human, like, ooh, you know? Yeah, I'll probably put some glow in. Um, does this guy look like fuzzy? Does he look like he's like furry? Because I don't want that. uh what if i we don't need this guy right now so let's this would need obviously a little fixing up here and have some glow over here from the higher mind the glow is just just doesn't the problem glow is with the book printing does not look like glow it looks like see here's what it would look like it would look wait so there's some glow but it looks stupid it would look it would look nice you know Even maybe, yeah, I mean, that would be cool. That's kind of the genie I was always picturing is, you know, something like that. But in a book, it's just not good. Because that's like inspiring. I'm like, man, look at that. Like what we can do is these primates can create this magical genie. And then we're here and we're like, oh, that's dull. Looks just better without the glow, unfortunately. It's shitty. It's really a real bummer. Maybe I can mess with the... Maybe I can mess with the color a little and see if I can find better colors here. I mean dark colors look better, but it's not really going for dark here. It's like, but it's almost like rather have dark colors that pop than bright colors that aren't bright. That's funny. I mean everything's better than, like, green. Yellow. Maybe we just go deep green, you know? Um, the other option is just to go very faint. You know, like, make it even more faint. Like, it's just too green. Uh, well, we're getting somewhere, at least. I do feel like the general idea is good. I might be leaning more towards Jellyfish Guy. I don't know. I don't want the other guy to look furry, you know? I think I need some more, just to mess with some more effects on this. What effects options do I've got? Nope. none of that um yeah i mean another option is to kind of give him a glow like a 3d glow looking thing let's see if that looks a little more of like a but now he really looks like a jellyfish make him look at him a little more i could you know something like he looks like a bubble i don't know about that looks kind of cool but he looks a little bit like a bubble as opposed to like kind of uh i don't know ah it's hard it's hard you don't know how to do a skill. Very sad. And the thing I can do is I can make him like, you know, profile like this. It's easy to mess with his. So as someone who you can tell is not very good at this, at doing it quickly or like knowing how to work with it very well, what I would do is I designed this intentionally. One of the things I had in mind was I can just, he's looking to the left now, right? Or even, you know. even get rid of that eye you know and have him looking fully to the left right but the bottom part can always stay how it is um you know i can have him sad i don't know if i'm even gonna want to but um it's just easy for me to now manipulate this guy into different positions without having to reinvent the wheel um yeah rays of light the problem is rays of light just look very um they look I mean, I have some rays of light. You see, this is what, like, look, look, this looks like rays of light coming off his thing, right? His, like, thing here, you can see. You can see this is, like, very, you know, rays of light coming off of him, right? But, womp, womp. I wonder if the answer is to try to just go deeper. Let me just try to go darker color and get rid of, like, the... But then he's just kind of like a dark green genie, which is, I guess, okay. It's not really what I was going for, but... And then maybe... No, not that. Center it a little more at some point. Oh, man. Exactly. The other option is just to go like this and really wash it out and just give up on, you know, give up on, like, color and just go for kind of, like, light and almost, like, airy. I don't mind this so much. I just like accept, you know, the situation. And the iPad, it'll look awesome like this. Yeah, bottom right corner. Yeah, I need to, once I decide here. Oh, this is depressing me. This is so depressing. That right one is so good now. It's such like a light bulb, you know, of light and like super intelligence. It's like the best of humanity. Now it looks cloudy. Granted, it didn't look so bad to me until I did this. before i was kind of like oh i like this and then i saw what it then the colors popped and um yeah i mean i feel like it should be kind of a circle right so let me try to expand this out a little bit um like that i don't hate it i am i am more into him than the furry guy now so i'm gonna close him off for now i feel like the the kind of uh circle is nice i don't want him to look like a little fuzz like a stuffed animal you know although this would be a good plushie This might have to be a plushie. We definitely, okay, look, here's some plushie. We definitely need, we definitely need this dude as a plushie, right? A big, like, sturdy, a sturdy plushie that you could, like, good pillow. You stand him on your desk. You need a primitive mind plushie for sure. That's this guy, if you remember. I don't know if you'd have his torch or not, but, you know, this is an obvious plushie. But, I'm kind of feeling this guy on the right now. I'm feeling like it's okay. I need to mess with the curves a little more here. I've made a complete mess of layers. In this case, it's really stupid because I'm going to use these again and again. But short-sighted. Because I think I'm in sketch mode. I'm like, oh, I'm just sketching for now. But then I end up working on it and now that's the thing. What was I using here? I had some good paintbrush. for, was it this guy? Why is this being so hard to... The question is like, should we gild the lily somehow here? Should we like curve? I want it to be a little more. Should you have some like, yeah, like glows, like beams of light somehow that can look good in this stupid color? I shouldn't do that. It really makes, it's like, you know, it's like you It's like you're married and you like your spouse, but you really were in love with someone else. And it's fine with your spouse. You talk yourself into it. Everything's fine. You end up pretty happy. But then you go and get coffee with the person you were really in love with. And now suddenly you feel like your life is shitty and your spouse seems shitty. That's what this is like. I'm like, oh, that pops. That's a genie, man. And then I'm like, oh. So I shouldn't do that. No more coffee with the X. Okay. It still says low rung giant for both. Oh, yeah. This isn't the real thing. I was just doing this for anyone who's here, but you're right. I guess I should, yeah. There is no more. Oh, I fucked up. High low. I mean, okay. You know what? I'm slower to say it's good enough with this one because this is actually an important one, you know? It's not a one-off, so I'm trying to actually be really... But I'm feeling like I like it's kind of symmetrical. It gets a point across. I want to mess with these curves a little more. I just feel like it's a little boxy there at the neck, but... Do I still have this up? So, yeah. Last thing is, like, is there something from his head coming out, maybe. He doesn't have as much glow over here. What do I use? I use the watercolor. The big 400. Point. Font. Chill out. This thing is unwieldy. Watercolor brush. Okay, now. Now, maybe I can do some kind of, like, ring around his head. That can kind of do some kind of glimmer of some kind. What if I just... A genie hat, huh? You see, it's not supposed to be an actual genie. It's, um, glasses to look smarter. I'm trying to make him kind of like a general idea, you know? He's not like an actual Aladdin genie. I'm calling him a genie, which is confusing a little bit, but a little hat could be cute. I acknowledge that. What's his first idea? Is that doing anything? You know, like, no, that's not working at all. What do I need to go thicker? What if I went thicker? You know, a little, like, give him a little bit of dimension, maybe? But I would put that behind his mouth. Where is his stupid mouth? Here we go. And maybe I would make it a little different color. Versus this. Ah. Torture. Self-torture. Because now he's just green, but here he'd be, like, a little bit... Oof. Shouldn't do that. Don't do it. Um. Those circles are gonna come out just kind of like I don't know if it'll look ethereal I think it'll just be like these light gray circles around him. I'm not sure about that, but it does accomplish something And though, you know Maybe this one this is this one's white, you know a little more mystical Gives him a little more light. I don't know I don't know if this makes it better or worse. Here's none of this. And here's all this glow. Wait, the watercolor? Yeah. The RGB version, I'm just gonna, like, do a different version. Ugh, stop it. Depressing. Okay. Because also, you see, it doesn't show these, like, dark... It just shows, like, a glow versus these, like, circles. These, like, obvious circles. I feel like he's getting kind of gray. But I guess that's just the comparison to the... So here is just a little bit more like of a simple thing. Maybe that's the one. Just that. Without this whole shebang. I'm thinking no hat. Because that's like a very like crisp cartoony thing on top of this. Supposed to be this like floating orb of like this kind of floating orb of essence of something versus like you know. It makes it more of like a character which I like but this guy's not going to have personality. He's not going to be making jokes. He's not going to be doing much. He's just gonna be there as like a symbol. I might be getting closer to the good enough zone here. Let me try something. Um, no. No, that gives him a nose that I don't want him to have. A little glow. Is that glow good? No, I think it's cuter this way. He's got kind of like a little blush. Um, alright. Oh, wrong one. These now, this thing below looks a little too crisp. I want to try one other thing that came to mind. one here faded a little smaller now i duplicate it again and i make it a little bigger and i fade it even more so you see it's a little more of like uh if i if i group these so here's what i just added i went from this to that give them a little glow um i feel like now this circle oh that circle could grow a little bit Man, I'm not labeling these layers. I'm begging for, like, just misery later, but... So... Am I... Am I... I might be making everything worse. All right, so this is what I just did. Um... Oh. What the hell? Oh. All right, this. All right, so this is where it was. It was here. And now what I've done is I've made a bigger circle and... Oh. And I've added to his head. Just merge it all. That's not a good suggestion. I mean, do we like this? Maybe I like this. Maybe this is a way to make it pop a little more. I opened that by accident, but like, I don't know. Indecisive. This is what happens when you take away the good enough button is I just will do this for hours trying to figure out what I like most and I won't even remember what I liked or disliked. Maybe I'm kind of thinking we should go with this deeper green. That line on the edge has to be dealt with. At some point you do have to just say, this is going to have to do. I don't know. Maybe this white thing is the problem and I just need to blend. No, no, no, we need that. Let me fuck with this line a little bit. Now I feel like this bottom part. The deeper green, it's not what I was going for, right? We wanted, like, with the guy on the left, we wanted, like, you know, beautiful, bright, like, turquoise-y, magical. But if we're not gonna get that, then deeper might be better. I mean, it's not very bright, but, um, my, uh, here's my thing. This gradient could be, this could be deeper green. Move this guy into here. Okay, we're going to move on in a minute. I'm not going to do this part all night. And maybe I need to chill out on the white part here so it blends a little better. Here's my white circle. Now let me... Look at all these hideous layers. This is crazy. All right, now I'm going to try to... No. I think I need to cut this part out of it. Whoa. Why? Why did that happen like that? Oh, because it doesn't have the same effect on it. Hmm. We need to just draw a little bit of, uh, in this color. It's very hazy. Um. Oh god, no. Well, what if I went like this? And then, oh. No, no, this is a disaster. Alright. I just, uh. Oh, maybe this thing has to go above it somehow. Oh, okay, wait. What if I put a copy of it above? And then I delete almost all of it. Fade the shit out of this. And I smudge. Would that make it better or worse? If I delete this, that's what it was. It just maybe, maybe faded even a little more. Now we kind of have the same issue. I don't know. He has a little bit of a beard. Oof. It doesn't really work. It's like, I don't like all the, uh, that's what it was like before. Get rid of some of that white. Maybe it's not the worst thing if there's some white there. Yeah, drawing in CMYK blows. How long till number three on the agenda? Sorry, we already did that. Okay, I have to remember to... We're here. And we did Wordle. We actually... Here's the real order here. Wordle. Four, five, six. So, I'm feeling okay about... i'm getting rid of this guy we're not using furry man i'm feeling okay about the green decision i want this to blend better so i need to figure out something um the opacity is all the way down that's the problem oh i have a weird idea what if i if i took this and now no that's not gonna work um okay what if i copied this what if i deleted this oh yeah that's that does some of the work there yeah yeah yeah that'll work okay and now where's this harsh green thing this is still here no I think that's just yeah yes this should be a good inspiration for anyone who wants to try an art a kind of art form that they don't feel like they're good at it because I truly like as I said I'm really there's there's I don't have skills I've never just taken the time to like you know I'm like I'm like always just trial and error and then I learn from that and it's just not my talent uh and yet still you can kind of do effective things that are good and fun um that work for what you want to do so you know don't get intimidated by art forms you feel like oh i don't have the skills i don't have the talent there because um i'm going to publish this in a book uh without having the skills of the talent and but if you have some kind of general creativity you can you can like make you can figure out you know um in a way that still kind of works i find so i don't know what that is for you but um you're like feeling not a good writer or whatever oops You wanted to try writing like, trial and error, mess around and see what comes out because you might actually surprise yourself that you're like, oh, I can actually do something here. Okay. I'm feeling okay about him. I'm feeling okay about him. I don't love, I don't love it. I don't love it. But there was no, I don't think there was anything I was going to love. Do I like this dark green guy? Do I like him? Would I prefer the lighter guy? Here. Compared to his little friend. I might like the lighter face, I don't know. It's very green. It's very green. It's superbly green. The lighter guy I had... No, where is the lighter guy I had? It was more like that. I think if we're not going to pop like this, which is what we all wish we could do, which is what we all wish we could do, then... Because this doesn't look that different. See, when I go back and forth, this at least looks a little like how much... I mean, it still looks nicer. It still looks nicer, but... I don't know. Maybe a little blue-green is nicer. I kind of like blue-green a little more. All right, so here's where we are. I'm not sure I like all those fat faces I drew around him. Where did I even put those fat faces? Oh, they're behind it. I might have fucked it up with the extra fat faces. Wait. I'd say this is good enough. I think you're probably right, Nikhil. I think we're in the good enough realm. I think we've hit that time where we're probably just making it worse at this point by continuing to fuck around. There's a few little decisions like this, you know. What was that? All right. Well, let's call it good enough. I'm going to, I mean, this is a little messy in here, but I'm going to, you know, I'll have a chance if in the book when I'm actually looking at the final version here, if I don't, I'm not. If it's bothering me as I read and see it again and again, then I can go and make a change. All right, so let's move on. We have a genie. We have a golem and we have a weird dark green genie. And that's going to have to do. I think the lesson is here, if you're going to be in whatever that was, whatever the printing thing I'm doing, if you're going to be printing on paper, Except that bright neon is just not happening. So, you know, go deep, deep colors because those still look good in this medium. And the bright ones don't. And that's okay. Accept your limitations here, right? I would also like to have long, skinny cartoons. But I can't. So I've had to condense them and lose some stuff. And that's just kind of what happened. So we're going to move on. We have a genie. Nice to meet you, genie. i've been thinking about you a lot i'm glad to finally see what you look like um and here's your friend i like the good contrast right the genius seems so much smarter and i like that there's a little hint of a smile on his face a little bit of he's you know a little bit of wise and he seems kind and he seems chill and the golem seems like a big dumb idiot and when someone in your group in your classroom in your group of friends and your family is putting pressure on everyone else to to fit with their ideas and they're creating an echo chamber they're actually they're they're they're the genie is evaporating they're making the genie evaporate for everyone because they're a bully because they have a problem with ideas attached to their identity that's a them problem and we all do it but that's they're in the with that and instead of just dealing with that they're actually enforcing everyone else they're they're using that to rid the group of their genie and that's not okay We should all insist on being in genie groups. I wanted to add a tad more varnish brush. Why is this so? So now I'm going to, this is a mess. I'm just going to close these layers and hope that like I never have to open them again. This is the dude. It's this group. This is Mr. Genie. And the problem is I'm going to have issues when I want to put him over something. See, this blows. That blows that yellow that white that's no good, but Hopefully I don't really I don't think he'll be over things. I mean he might be in which case I'll just have to magic eraser that but I Put this guy over him. I guess I put this guy over him. It won't matter. That doesn't matter Well, look how clean look how easy this guy was compared to this ethereal fuck. So yeah, this guy has some some white Let's just quickly see if there's an easy way to fix that. Ugh, I don't know if there is. This is amateur hour, by the way. This is the kind of thing an amateur does without realizing it. And now I think I'm just going to have to design things so that it's emerging from the top of things and it's not in front of anything. And that's going to have to do. You know, there's a few things like that in this book where I was like, this can never be in front of something because of the way I did it. All right, here we are. We have a genie. Yay, a genie. Now. Tim, Madeline is asking for college advice. Well, a lot of this book is about college campuses. College campuses are supposed to be unbelievable places of genie-ness. Supposed to meet people there and have all kinds of arguments. And there's genie forums you never knew existed. And you go into class. And there's a debate in class. And there's a genie. And then there's these papers being written by professors. And there's disagreements. And there's a genie, right? And it's supposed to be this big genie coming out of a college campus. Someone who maybe grew up in a Gollum-type environment, like I did, you know, where everyone was one political stripe where I grew up. You go to college, you're supposed to have your mind challenged. And I really did. I feel very fortunate. And you're supposed to be, like, introduced to the concept of genies. And, oh, my God. And you come out, and everyone comes out of that environment, and they're such a better thinker forever because they spent four years in genieland. What's happening now is the opposite, is that a very small militant group ideology has basically made it illegal to be genie it's it's eradicated genies from college campuses and you know not every i'm sure there's little groups of friends where they but in general and it's awful and it's terrible regardless of what you think politically you should be very annoyed about the concept of colleges becoming low-rung um in low-rung training centers they train people to be more low-rung than when they came in they train people um that that good people already we already have the truth and and this is the truth and anyone who disagrees is an awful person and um they teach kids that and the kids don't they don't get to benefit from all the genie time they could be spending but they also are actually being taught um to be in a golem they're they're being they're being trained to be part of a golem they're being trained as soldiers in a golem and it's really sad and infuriating makes me angry and um and i don't think i i don't i think part of the the reason that this has been able to happen is because we don't have this language i think i that's what i'm trying to write a book that can help with language that can help us see that for what it is you know so that's what i feel um okay okay anyway i i have a huge amount of the book a huge chunk of the book huge chapter gets into that All right. Yeah, I can get rid of the white by the tail. I'm going to have... If I have to get... If I have to... So I can get rid of the white by the tail probably right now with Magic Eraser. Like, if I just go like this, and I... Oh, wow, he's see-through. That's kind of cool. If I just went like this, and I merged, and then I went to Magic Eraser, pretty sure I can just... Let's see. I could just do this. Oops. You know, and get in there and get in their details. But it's... That's funny. I mean, it's not crazy for him to look more like this. Now that I see it. I mean, then he looks... It looks cool, kind of. He's kind of funny now. Now he looks like an alien. Okay, last thing then, I guess, now that I'm doing this. well first let me just finish what i was doing here this happens a lot i try something and i accidentally stumble upon something and then i'm like wait a second uh all right so i i would i would get rid of these better but what if you know i would clean it up um obviously it needs to be cleaned up and rounded better um but is there any argument to let's get rid of this dude is there any part of us do we do we like the clean guy better What do we think? Let me draw in a little edge here. It's going to be hard, actually. Clean guy's alarming at first. That's funny. Yeah. I feel, because now he looks like other things now, suddenly, like a balloon. Because now the other guy looks bushy, right? Yeah. That's funny. You see my world of hell here that I'm always in is this kind of shit. Just total... indecision and you know it's not it could always be a bit bushy cloudy is what you want yeah i think that's probably right does the background of the genie have to be white well because the background of all my drawings are white right so i don't want to start messing around with that's weird it is weird that's what actually happened but we don't have to know no one has to know um i think Because now now you know you know what I'm going with Bushy because this guy looks like and he just looks like an alien He looks like a character like a robot or a character or something I mean he looks like a light bulb, which is cool. Looks like a light bulb and he looks like a Fuck man. I don't know. I need Alicia to weigh in but she's good. She's sleeping. She's off I don't bother her, but she's gonna have to weigh in on this Okay, so maybe what I'll do is I'm going to leave these two for now and not worry too much because I can get some second opinions tomorrow as well. Napster Genie. It just is a little more of like an iconic character on the right, you know? It's like more of a thing. It's like confident. It's like, this is who it is. This is this guy. And the left is kind of like, ooh, it's something. But the Bushy was for a reason, right? We wanted it to be kind of an ethereal... uh, you know, formation in the, uh, uh, uh, yeah. Okay, well, we like bushy here. Okay, everyone's bushy. Everyone's bushy. Yeah, I'm gonna hold on to the clean. Yeah, yeah, I'm definitely gonna hold on to it. All right, this was good. This was good. You guys are very, very helpful. This is great. This is so much better than just sitting here alone with my own mind fucked. head trying to like even decide remember what i wanted in the first place it's very nice to have a sanity check um cool well i will uh i will be i will be back here okay let's keep moving the better plushie it would be a cool plushie i can picture the plushie pretty easily if you ever want plushies done squishables is the company they're great although you have to order like it's like ten thousand dollar batch you have to basically i think you have to order thousand at once for ten bucks a piece. Unfortunately. That's why we couldn't test much shit. We were like, look, monkey, panic monster, mammoth. We know people like those, right? So, you know, so we did those. But like, I would have liked to test all kinds of plushies, but we weren't going to try it for ten grand, you know, and inventory and all that. Okay. Yeah, at least she gets to vote later. Yeah, we have a wide toys. Check it out. If you Google, like, Panic Monster Plushie or, like, Instant Gratification Monkey Plushie, it should come up on Google or just in our store. All right, next. We have some stuff to do. I want to keep moving here. No procrastination yet. Yeah, don't worry. This is the last day. But I will be doing more, you know, live streams because this is fun. And it works because you guys are a good crowd. Like, the readers here are a good crowd. Like, I feel like other live streams would just be annoying. people would be dicks or they would be annoying but like i actually like like hanging out with people who like my blog so that's why this is fun for me um okay so now the that's not even a drawing of itself this was a key thing i had to do to make the next drawing but so the next thing i'm trying to do is um is showing how these combine um into Showing what happens when genies combine and when golems unsuccessfully combine because they don't combine. This is like, you know, having the genie done means this is a productive day no matter what. Because that's a huge thing to knock out in a day. The last big character of the book. So I'm pleased. Now, here we go. So, okay, so... We have this, this emergence tower is a big part of the book and a big part of the series. So here is, so here's an emergence tower, right? So each one of these atoms, a bunch of atoms together form a molecule that has, that is more than the sum of its parts, right? It has its own capabilities and a bunch of molecules form protein, but even more so just a bunch of atoms form a cell. that has way more capabilities than all the atoms combined individually. And the cells together form an animal that is more than the sum of its parts. And then we can extend this upwards. An animal, a bunch of animals forms, could be a tribe, could be a country, could be a lot of things. And this is the origin of the concept of a golem and a genie, because my point is that... humans don't just form like a wolf wolves always form a wolf pack that's it which is a golem it's a wolf golem it's a scary you know and humans can do that humans can form just like a scary thing that's the golem but they also can form a genie right so this is they can when they're higher when their higher minds are the ones really in charge they form a totally different higher emergence creature what i'm trying to show here and i just want to like there's one drawing here we also made some huge emergence tower which i thought was kind of cool where is it that's not it oh yeah is it this right but we've made an even bigger one oh yeah this one so check it out right so this is like the full one right you know it's like a species goes to a biosphere which eventually you know community because eventually potentially so biosphere is the all life on earth but like maybe it's part of a cosmic sphere maybe it's part of a multiverse sphere that's just me being silly basically but it's kind of fun to think about um I'm not going to, that's the kind of thing, it's just too vertical to be in the book. That's, I mean, it's just going to take up the whole page, right? We can't, it's not, it's not worthy of a whole page, even though it's cool. Um, so then I did a human emergence tower. Cause it's like, that's what we're focusing on. Right. But I, I am thinking this might be a little complicated. It might just be, you know, it's cool, but, um, so the question that I'm trying to answer is whether I bring the, this, human emergence tower in the book or i just make a simpler one that's like a couple tiers it's like individual you know um individual group society just keep it really straightforward um and let's just try that let's just try and see how it looks um okay so essentially what's happening here let's just say golem emergence so what we've got is I'm just trying to think about it. I'm trying to do a bunch of people disagreeing. No, it's not going to work. Okay, this is going to be an echo chamber. All right, there's an echo chamber. Now, an idea lab. Here they are, but you can't... Okay. Echo chamber and an idea lab. And so now, what you've got is they form a golem. So this is now emergence going to the right. Individuals, group, and society. And what you've got, society is... Um, let's get my angry golem. I have an angry one somewhere. No, I don't have an angry golem here. Here's my angry golem. Uh, and I have another angry golem somewhere. Um, here's an angry golem. I don't have to have him killing someone in this particular drawing, but I do like the stomp. So, okay. I have another one too. Want to say hi? Y'all want to meet my wife? She just got home. Come hang. You can come sit. Okay. Hi. No, you live stream. Ah, hard pass. I was just going to bring him a snack. No, you're going to live stream. I have no idea what is happening here. Where's YouTube? Here's the chat. Draw here, yeah. This is the first time I've looked over and you're actually working. Yeah. Okay, now. You can draw. Get this out of my way. Oh, shoot. No, no, no. You fucked up. Now you can draw. Wait. Do you think this will make it in? You're asking what your name is. Why don't you say something? Sorry, what am I? There's like 50 screens and half screens. Oh, this is your camera? Hi, I'm Tandis. Hi, nice to meet you, everyone. Yeah, we do have coordinating black shirts. We've both also been wearing these shirts for like three days because we have no life. I just brought to him probably the first bite of food that he's eating in the day. I just got back from a long trip and there's a lot of, oh, it's here. The house is in disarray. Just FYI. All right, well, here we are. You've had it? It's kind of crazy to do this for like eight hours. I have nothing to say after like 40 seconds. Bad shit. Oh, the saying part is fun. The drawing part sucks. Is this a real drawing or is this a board where you're doing different drawings? No, no, this is a drawing. You've made it a lot worse. I feel like this is really strong. So, do you want to see the high-rung giant for the first time you just drew it? I just drew it. Ready to see the genie? You're not sure which one. Let's weigh in. Is there a favorite in the voting? I think people liked the bushy one a little more, but I'm torn. He's supposed to be the high-rung giant that emerges from an idea lap. Yeah. It's definitely not the bushy one. Oh, shit. You like the clean one, huh? Yeah. Yeah. I also kind of like the clean one, but... So it is a sperm, you know that? Everybody knows that? The bushy one doesn't look like a sperm, that's the thing. He also doesn't look like an alien or a balloon. Oh, yeah. But he does look kind of like a more iconic, cool kind of like character, you know? He's so faded in comparison to how stark the other giant is. Yeah, well the problem is... Even just like, why are his eyes not full black? It's like... Yeah, I could do that. That's a good point. Anyway, I'm gonna eat dinner. It's 9.40. Okay, enjoy yourself. What's your favorite snack that I make you? Probably like some shishito peppers. Yeah, yeah. But what you just did was really good. I didn't make that. You have nothing to say, huh? But good luck and nice to meet all of you. And I had a good time. And I'll see you... There you go. There you all are. Um, this guy, uh, I have to, uh, so he could make these black. Mm-hmm. Yeah, that's probably right. That's probably right, because why would his face have to be faded? I mean, it's a little more ethereal, but, like, you know, let his face pop? I don't know. Maybe his face popping too much now. Oh, we're back here. See, this is the ship, so she was like, I like the non-bushy, but then... also called it a sperm which is the problem right so well we're gonna learn something here um we're gonna learn something here because we're about to do an actual drawing with this guy and we can kind of test it out now uh i was looking for my final i had one more angry golem and i'm pretty sure it's in only one crash today so far i shouldn't jinx it i'm sure i just jinxed it but oh okay here there's a bunch of golems here right Sadly, this drawing I don't think is in the book. Oh yeah, this guy. Yeah, this guy. Okay. Alright, so now I feel like we have all of our golems that we need for this. Yeah, okay. Alright, so now we're going to make a little array of... This guy might not be... The other one still looks much angrier. Just want to have the really angry guys. Another case of... Bad layers. I have to do some work here. Let's see if I can just... Oh, but I lost his... I fucked up. Over here, get this one. Do three more of those. Six colors. And the point is, this is to show a bunch of people... This is all the same concept. It's just how it looks on different scales. You've got an echo chamber of people in strict agreement, you know, kind of enforced conformity by their culture. the group's culture which yields one of these as the group in a higher emergence way is actually this and a bunch of these together is just a bunch of fighting different things while this one here is going to yield a genie and a bunch of genies is going to yield a super one super genie you know so it's the idea here to show it's not just better for the people in the group to be in an idea lab It's not just that they make something smarter, but actually in a mass scale, it scales up to something super smart versus something that's just actually like, could be war, could be civil war, genocide, could be just a lot of political infighting, but this is where ugliness happens. Okay, so we'll leave one blue and one red, and I have to change these three colors. All right, not perfect, but don't worry about the little tiny issues here with the outline. That's a waste of time. yeah geoguessers is cool geoguessers is cool it's one of those things where it's tricky because it's dangerous because it's one of those that you don't want to just do one because it's well it's like you do one and you're like that was pretty fun but you're like well obviously i need to see the next one you know and that that's that's those are the things that you spend okay the ultimate example the worst example of that ever is the iphone game kingdom rush which i played I started playing it at like 7 p.m. one day. And every time you finish a level, you get new powers. And A, you really want to try out your new upgrades. Because every level, you get new upgrades. And B, you really want to see what the next level is. It's like a new canvas to build your shit on. And I played from 7 to 9 to midnight to 3 to... 5 a.m. It got bright out and I played till noon. This is not normal. I don't have that big a problem. I almost never get addicted to a game to that extent. And it only happened once with this game. But I played from 7 p.m. to noon. That was how hooked I got on it. Highly recommend. I feel like I lost my... What happened here? Oh, I guess it's just kind of faint. Alright. Did I? Okay. All right, one more, one more. We need one more color. Orange. Yeah, orange, right? Okay. But then is that going to mix up? Oh, no, I have to do a darker purple here. Okay, let's just finish this here. Is that going to be mixed up with this orange? The point is to be like, you know, no, I guess I'll do an orange. That makes sense. It's like one of them is orange, right? All right. All right. All right. Steal this color. So each drawing takes forever and it's like, wow, this is a nightmare how long it takes. But the way I look at it is it compiles, you know, if you're doing five or six a day for, you know, for a blog post is usually that's two days of drawing and it's over. Maybe, maybe even just a day for a book. Well, it's a book, right? It's an hand illustrated book. So if there's a hundred drawings in the book, there's actually more, but a lot of them are combined. If there's a hundred like original new things in the book. and I'm doing six a day. That's a little over two weeks. And it's like, well, if someone's like, oh, you've got a, you're hand illustrating this book. And I'm like, yeah, it was like, it took like the second half of, you know, April or whatever. It's like, oh, it's like it compiles. And I think that goes for a lot of work where it seems like this is a nightmare. And it's like, oh my God, no. But if you actually just like, well, if you just plow ahead for... Couple weeks then it's done and then it's something that like when you look at the big picture It's like well that that should have taken a couple weeks. It's not a big deal That's I think that's like sometimes it feels like things are daunting On like a micro scale when you look at each item, but then when you actually take a step back, it's not such a big deal Alright, so here we are. They look a little unoutlined, but that's okay. So that's that's what happens here. This is the This is the What happens when you get a lot of golems This is how they scale up. They scale up to this nasty situation. So now let's take our golems, group them. Alright, now we get to use our genie. Try this guy. Smaller. Because now here, it's going to merge into a super genie. See how much better that is? It's much better. And that's the situation. So now I'm going to hide these and try the other guy out, and we'll see if we like one better or not. It always helps to actually see it in action. All right, and then we'll probably put our psych spectrum on the left here. There it is. All right, so... Okay. So, and then I'm going to make an axis down here, which we can probably steal from our authoritarian axis from yesterday. It is here. can grab this here okay so I don't know if you want an arrow as much as just labels so we're gonna just go all right individual so individual society yeah we could do a so something like this is the idea of how this these this concept scales up Yeah, I think it works. Something will work. Let's just go with labels. Thank you, Kristoff. I think you're right. Okay. Oh, by the way, so we still have to look at, so we have these guys, right? And then we've got, so we've got that or we got this. Oh, how are we feeling now? Either way. Yeah, the mouth will be, the mouth will be the same. The mouth will be black on both. I'm not going to, this is going to be a, huh. It's kind of, Yeah, this is going to be something I'm just going to sleep on. I don't think there's an obvious right answer here. Yeah, fuzzy. Fuzzy's looking pretty good right now. Versus like Mr. Baldi head. Put this in for now. So, this is where we are. This was big. This was a big thing to get done. I think I could condense this vertically a little bit. Something like that. um brian votes smooth this cannot be contained yeah this is a toughie um but i i the point is either way i think it's getting the point across it looks really different than the low rung giant and if you remember when i showed you or those of you were here a while ago the original this was the high rung giant before this stupid thing here And like kind of this. I don't know why they even look different. But like, that's not a hierarchy. It's just a big person. It's a big stick figure, right? Now we've got a real character here, which is really what it was missing. It was badly missing. Right now we have two concepts, new concepts, not just a big person. So what are we weighing on, Tim? Well, you see there's this fuzzy headed gene. So this is the new character we just spent like 100 years building. Me and the crew that were here very helpfully helping me. So we've got Fuzzy Head, right? Mr. Kind of Cloud Head. And then the other option is... And this guy would have a darker face like the other guy. So we've got kind of Mr. Baldy and Mr. Fuzzy. And so I'll put Mr. Baldy up here for reference. So you see, this is what we're deciding here. Kristoff likes Fuzzy. That's good. Okay. Well, we have a split jury here. But I think it'll get the job done either way. Nikhil likes Fuzzy. Oh, wow. Kelly and Elizabeth weighing in. Wow. Okay. All right. Fuzzy is doing well here. Oh, okay. Margot likes Fuzzy. I don't know. I think maybe Fuzzy is going to be the winner if all you like is so much more. What's my opinion? I mean, I'm truly torn, which is why I'm going back and forth. Otherwise, I would have just ditched one of these and wouldn't have thought about it in the last hour. But I'm leaning towards Fuzzy because it's the idea that I'm going for, which is like it's emerging into this cloud of intelligence as opposed to like this green alien character appears and he's smart. It makes it more like this. I don't know. It makes the green guy is more of a like he looks a little reptilian, you know. versus the other thing's kind of like a cloud of intelligence. But the non-cloud guy is more of like a character that goes along with like the crisp other character, you know? So, yeah, the smooth would have a dark mouth as well. I just haven't done that yet. I can like do that now, display it. Yeah, so he would have a dark mouth too. Yeah, have her watch the whole process. I don't know if she's gonna, she's... She's been dealing with this project for a long, long time. I don't know if I'm going to get a whole long process watch, but we'll see. Maybe. Yeah, her insights were huge. Alicia will also be helpful because she just knows the project as well as anyone and has good taste and gets it. A lot of final decisions come down to what Alicia thinks. I'm lucky to have someone working with me. I trust a lot. And who gets what I'm trying to do. Alright, so you see. So, let's see if I can knock out one. I'm fatiguing, but I'm still going. You know? This is our last live stream, so let's, you know. I mean, this was huge. To get the genie done, and then to get this thing done, which was like kind of the... That's very, very big. No, Alicia is done for the day. Yeah, she had knee surgery recently, a few days ago. So she's recovering and getting rest. Let's do another. Let's do another. I love the night crowd, by the way. I mean, maybe it's not night for you. If you're on the West Coast, it's kind of just normal evening. Or if you're in a different country, it could be morning. But for the East Coasters... I like your style. That's all I'm saying. I've done a lot of this. I've been on something at... By the way, last night we were going almost at 1am. We had a real weird crowd here. It was the weirdos. We had fun. That's when we discovered the Google Street View game. Not GeoGuessr, but just, you know. And so then we brought that into this morning's session. Yes, Alicia's going to definitely be weighing in on this tomorrow. I'm leading towards, again, now I'm like kind of back towards Balloon and Bald Head Guy. If I didn't see Bald Head Guy, I think I would really like this genie. But when I see him, I'm like, oh, he's so like clean and satisfying. But he's also kind of like a tadpole. He's a little bit of a sperm. But like a lot of things are a lot of things, right? The orange guy is kind of a gingerbread man, but he's not when you get used to what he actually is, right? I don't know. Oh, New Zealand. I did my semester abroad in college in Wellington, so I'm a big fan of New Zealand. Is the white boy blog still a thing? Yes. I have a lot of blog posts built up in my list that I've been stuck with this book, but yes, a lot of blog posts coming. Gumby, yeah, exactly. Yeah, I know what you're saying, Nikhil. You're not wrong. You're not wrong. All right. So I think we should take on one more hard one. I'd be super happy if I did one more hard one and then finished, because... everything else left is quick on my list you know we can get every drawing that i wanted to this three days but like i kind of have one hard one left and then the rest are like kind of quick things like i have to draw two arrows and label them or i have to like condense a thing no this is it but um definitely more live streaming will come i don't know what we'll do maybe we'll just come on to do geo guesser sessions you know we'll have like a procrastination hangout sesh or maybe i will explain something i'll do you know like i you know the kind of thing i would explain in a post maybe i'll do like a session you know explaining it something i've been learning on uh the whiteboard which can be this which would be pixel meter it can be you know drawing things here um or uh yeah i don't know we could do something fun like uh play a game like a like a There's a game mist you all know probably and they those people came out with a new one called abduction for example, which I haven't done And I'd like to play it So that's the kind of thing. Maybe we could all do on live stream. I don't know I have a lot of ideas interesting things we could do and if you have ideas let me know send me an email and Yeah, and also maybe I'll just do more drawings on live stream. I mean, I definitely was as at least as productive as I would be and and And I'm more productive than I probably on average would be alone because I just couldn't go and stop. I had to kind of sit here. So I feel like there's no reason not to do more drawings on live stream. So yeah, there'll be more. But this is it for this particular little run. We did a three-day trial and I think it was a success. I had fun. Wait But Hide 2, yep, we're going to do one of those. That was all Alicia. She ran the whole thing, planned the whole thing. And we're going to do another, yeah. If you want to be notified of stuff, yeah, dinner tables. We can do a lot of cool things. If you want to be notified of stuff, just be on the email list. It's the best way. And Twitter. I mean, I'm on Twitter all the time. That's where I just hang out when I'm not posting something. so twitter is just like a place to follow what i'm thinking about that day and i test a lot of ideas on twitter like when i was you know like a lot of these ideas uh originally when i was writing them or i had a chart or a diagram or an idea i just throw it on twitter let's you know low cost um sometimes people didn't get it or they were confused or they misinterpreted it or they were they hated it in a way that like i i didn't anticipate and other times it totally resonated you know when viral and that's huge information for me so it's like a place i can throw something against the wall and see if it sticks um and so that's my daily kind of expression platform and then i mean instagram a little too but i usually just put kind of like the best of twitter onto instagram or things that i think would be good as instagrams and then email email is somewhere where anytime there's something big happening send that email the subscription list um is You can just see that on the side of Waipa Wines there somewhere. Okay. Last drawing. It's going to have to do a lot with these angry golems. It's me helping to use an image, a visual, to help tell the story of what happened to U.S. politics in the last 50 years, 60 years. So in the middle of the century, it's not that everyone liked each other or they were more mature or anything. It's that I think that the tribalism was distributed along the emergence tower. What I mean by that is there was people who were really focused on their local politics, and that's what they cared about. There was people who were obsessed with the state politics, like the Republicans versus Democrats in Iowa. Might have had nothing to do with what the Republicans and Democrats are like nationally, because it didn't used to be so clean cut. So people were just really into their state politics, right? then there were some people really into the national politics the presidential race and whatever and then there was people who were super patriotic and super anti-soviet union and you know focusing hard on um on america versus this right and so you had these different levels of tribalism and each one kind of helps unify the others if everyone is angry at the soviet union that helps people chill out about their national politics and be more united if people are angry at each other within the republican party that helps you know them unite with some democrats maybe nationally in the national races and so you don't have uh it so it was kind of distributed which simmered simmered things and what happened since then is you lost kind of the the international thing because the soviet union you know the threat of it went down as far for the us there isn't you know hasn't been like a big international enemy for a while You had World War II, and then you had the Cold War, but after that. And then within the parties, you had the conservatives all went from the Democrats that were there. They all went to the Republicans, and all the progressives that were in the Republican Party went to the Democrats. For a lot of reasons I discuss in the book, you ended up with much more kind of, not much fighting within the parties, nearly as much as you had the two parties as the two. So all of this tribalism, these different tiers, they all kind of melted away except for this national one. right versus left and that became this giant whirlpool that sucked out started to suck everything else in it got so and so it's what we have the problem we have now is just everyone's tribalism is concentrated together into one tier and so you have this giant tribal war suddenly with nothing above it or below it to simmer things so i'm trying to depict that here using these angry golems as the concept okay now just trying to think about the way i want to arrange all this uh frederick i've been there i i'm always i'm like procrastinating and like being furious at myself while watching something else and i'm like well they're not procrastinating so i'm sitting here hanging out with them but then i feel like that all the time um it's not a good feeling but also you know you know a lot of people just gotta procrastinate sometimes um if it makes you feel better after this i'm definitely gonna like have at least three days of doing absolute shit i'm gonna try i'm definitely gonna sit down tomorrow and try and just like Expect very little from me tomorrow. Okay, so I'm just gonna make a doc. Oh, it's a visit from Gus. It's a visit from Gus. It's Gus. He's very excited. He's excited to be Gus. He's excited to be alive and to be Gus. He enjoys his life. He has a lot of zest for life. All right, all right, all right. Oh, I haven't Lion Kinged in today. Elizabeth, that is a great call. That is a great call. I'm super happy you reminded me. He has to get Lion King once a day on the live stream. He's been Lion King twice, and he hasn't had it yet today, so. Should we even? Hold on. Oh, no, I'll get shut down. Spotify, can't play. You can't play Disney music. My God. I was going to actually put on the Circle of Life, but Gus, look at the camera. Is he not a perfect thing to Lion King? I could do it with her, but it's just not as fun. Say she's too big. It doesn't have the same effect. I mean, it's funny. She's hilarious. She's not very nice. She's not very warm. You have to really earn a cuddle from her. Gus is just, he'll just give you affection all day. I'm really happy you reminded me, Elizabeth. That was like one of the last things we had to make sure we did today. All right. So I'm going to label this. We're going to call this concentrated, distributed to concentrated. Hmm. Ugh. I'm going to have to recolor some of these. It really made this difficult because I just didn't consider I was going to have to recolor these. And so when I first did them, I didn't do layers very well, but that's okay. Shouldn't take too long. All right. So we're going to have... I'm going to show three tiers of tribalism. So we're going to have... Now the question is, do you want to do it vertically? Well, we'll think about that in a second. Okay. So we're going to have... Within the party... factions within the party, right? All yelling at each other. And now, maybe we'll go for some lo-fi. Let's go back to the OG playlist that we had going here. We've done a lot of Zelda now. Get some chill vibes here for the end of our little sesh. So we've got national politics here. Republicans versus Democrats. We've got... What we're going to have is two groups here. We're going to show factions within the Democrats fighting and factions within the Republicans fighting. And then we're going to show this faction. And then up here, we're going to have just one big... This is the U.S. We're focusing on the U.S. here. And this is going to be a U.S., say, flagged, colored guy who's going to be fighting, you know, I guess the Soviets. I don't know if I'll have a Soviet guy or a... Yeah, I think I think that'll and then and the question is Yeah, epidemic sound if you just search for happy hip-hop you get a great selection of like five it's a great list of like 500 songs so Maybe I can get away with leaving these guys in these four colors that would be sick and just being like yeah These are factions of the party as opposed to guys gonna do like Dark blue and lighter blue and lighter blue and like four blues and four reds, which it would get the point across a little better, but Might be kind of nice to not have to do that, you know? Okay, now how the hell do I do a US flag? Okay, I think I can do something here to the top Let me try something my magic eraser. This could work. This is a drawing from the series that did not make the book but I think it's pretty interesting. Okay. More efficient way to do this, but I don't feel like figuring it out at the moment. He is American. National guy. I think that was the hard one. I think everything else should be. There's definitely a clipping mask feature that at some point Alicia tried to teach me and what I needed here to make this much quicker. You can just have something and put something behind it like that. Now. You know, I'm definitely into an audiobook. I mean, obviously, you got to do an audiobook, and I love listening to audiobooks. The only thing that sucks is so many images, right? Like, forget the bushy genie versus the bald genie. You get no genie now, right? You just have me describing it. Loses a lot, you know, this book more than others. Loses a lot with the audio, but I still think you got to do it, obviously. And I'll try to, I'm going to rewrite a lot of sections. Not fully rewrite, but just... add descriptions in where drawings were to try to make it as um as good an experience as possible close as close as possible day two where does it say oh day two yeah yeah sorry yeah because i just used that same duck now we've got this we've got this and now the question is i think i guess we should have i guess we should have um now that i made this dude i might as well use it i needed this before so That's the thing now You gotta make I didn't have the I Should have the little at least on the big guy. You should have these other arm Pieces. Why does this keep doing this? It's gonna have I'm worried Pixelmator is like getting ready to glitch. Let me close some of these docks Fucking Pixelmator, man. I don't know what my sociotype is. I don't know. I don't know what that is. I feel like Stop it Pixelmator gets glitchy. It's not good sign Okay I hope it's not a clinic inefficiency one here. Where are you, Utkash? India. I really want to go to India. This is there. Okay, he's now officially, officially waving his fist. The bottom guys, fuck them. People get the point. We don't need to have their fists waved. All right. Shitty. Okay. So now what we're doing is... We're showing two things. How it was in the 60s and how it is today. Really like by the 90s. I think this is going to be better horizontally. So we're going to have to accept the Emergence Tower loss here and not have it next to it because it's just going to be better to show two things. We've got this. We've got this. We need to make everything smaller. national guy we've got international guy we've got national friends here and then we've got then we've got inter party intra party politics cool and now that's 1960 oh yeah internet had a huge huge factor played a huge role um a lot of things a lot of things that you know aren't really like people being it's not really bad people that much here in this story it's just kind of like bad circumstances that have environmental changes that have brought out the worst um this is this music's a bit odd anyway all right so now what we're gonna see here though is this is shrunk and also faded this guy is shrunk and faded And this is all there is. Now, pretty clearly, this is the Wait But Y font that I drew with my hand. And it was awful. And I was going like this the whole time. Because it was just, like, so tense. Yeah, the internet's weird. Yeah, parties. Yeah, I'm glad you like it. I feel like this came out the way I wanted it to. I was totally, you know, see? I was totally going to stop after that last one. This one here. I was like, ugh. Because we drew the genie. And we made this. And I was like, this is... These two were together grouped this as like these two really big icky things. And I had to draw the genie to do it. And I was definitely going to just quit. Probably before even this. But because you're all here, I was like, you know what? We're here. Fuck it. Let's just power through. And now, done. And like, it took forever. This actually was a nightmare. as it turns out with all the coloring and stuff. But it's done. It's just like you get it right once and now it's done and it's over. And by the way, this is only half the story because then I go into explain what happened between 1995 and today. So we concentrated tribalism then turns into something even worse. Hypercharged tribalism, I call it, which is the same idea, but it becomes like a religious fervor. And I think the Internet is... the reason for that and so that's kind of the best a big part of the backstory i'm telling in this book to try to explain how things got the way they are um so yeah all right think yeah radioactive yeah i have a bunch of potential names for it but uh went with hypercharged i had religious tribalism but that's like too confusing because people can think i'm talking about actual religion um but it's a lot of like micro decisions you know you have to do in these situations about what's the term for everything what are you doing and it's not you know nothing's perfect you just have to kind of give it a go and uh all right yeah contagious smear right six degrees it's a lot like that i'm really glad you guys were here because you saw a lot of uh the big ideas that i've been working on um and a nice you know there's a way to actually showcase some of the ideas as well as some of the new drawings as well as hang out with a bunch of people who I like. I always like hanging out with people who like the blog. It's just, that makes sense. People who don't like the blog are probably less likely to be people I want to hang out with because they don't have my interests and my sense of humor. And so it's always, it's a nice way to filter people that are fun to hang out with. And this was an awesome experiment. A few crashes, but I think that's Pixelmator's fault. I got familiar with a very new medium now that I hope to use a lot. And if you have ideas, as I said, let me know. But thank you, huge thank you to everyone who came. This is, it made it an awesome time for me. And I hope you had fun too. Yes, Wake Baha'i is so needed. This is reminding me of why it's so needed. I feel like there's a lot of synergy between this community, so we should do more of it. But we will do more of this. And thank you for coming. I'm a little beat right now, as you can tell. But I had so much fun doing this. And I'm very grateful. Just very grateful, you know, to get to do my work and then hang out with a bunch of people while doing it. That's pretty awesome. And, yeah, I feel very lucky. So thank you. And I hope you check out the book when it comes out and you'll see all these things on paper. So that should be cool. And I will be back with blog posts and a podcast and maybe a wave but high and maybe more live streaming all soon. We're going to make a new website. We have a huge built up list of stuff to do. that this book has been holding up. And this is now the very, very last percent of the, we're 99% of the way through the book stuff now. So I'm going to sign off then. Thank you.
